As I showed you yesterday the publicist had a friend stop by and she brought her DOG.
We goats don't like DOGS.
DOGS chase goats.
At least every DOG I have every met has chased me.
Harumph!
It is not nice to chase a goat!
You can see that I was on high alert when I peered out of my pen and saw this DOG.
I was not happy about this visit.
Oh no! Not.At.All.
The publicist's friend was very nice.
But not this DOG, this DOG named Shmoo.
She wanted to get into my pen.
MY pen.
I am very glad the publicist did not allow this.
NONE of us were very happy about the visiting DOG.
And then the DOG had the nerve to appear bored with US.
Can you imagine such a thing?
Harumph!
Next time I will butt this Shmoo and then we will know who is boss!
If I am not running too fast in the other direction.....

Exciting News! I am Going to be a ReviewGoat Again!
It's true!
You know how much I love being a ReviewGoat!
And it's not just because I get extra grain....
OK, maybe that plays a bit of a role.
But I love to try new things.
Hey! Maybe I'll get to try new grain!
Probably not. CSNStores.com sells a LOT of things but the last time I looked grain was not
in their over 200 stores.
I think I will have to maaaaaa to them about that.
It is a SERIOUS lack.
I am wanting to dress up my goat house a bit.
It is just plain drabby. (It's because of Abby - she does not take care of anything!)
I thought some nice end tables would help.
It would give us goats some new seating.
WHAT?!
You humans don't sit on your end tables?
Then why are they called END tables if not for your ends?
Silly humans!
These look perfect!
They are bright and colorful and a nanny could keep her kid close by having it sleep inside.
I cannot think of a nicer addition to a goat house.
Although if one is a goat without kids one can go for a more upscale look. I mean if you
don't have to worry about all that kid play or losing your kid and such. A retired goat, like me! I like this one; it's simple and classic and strong enough to hold up to any size end you might have visiting.
Plus it will fit in with any goat house decor.
So I guess I will have to do some ruminating. Do I decorate for ME or do I decorate for the herd?
I guess since I am still living with the herd....
Harumph!
Disclosure: This is a post in advance of a review. I received no monetary compensation for writing it. I did not even get any extra grain for writing two posts in one day. Harumph to that too!

Sherpa the Farm Cat is a Swinger!
As I mentioned yesterday, we have been enjoying some bright and sunny days.
Days that are perfect for relaxing in the sun.
But we goats take our duties seriously and we are not relaxing - oh no!
We are basking our little goat hearts out!
Not like Farm cat Sherpa.
He is a lazy boy.
I mean, just look at this...
Can you believe it?
He thinks he is a human!
He is chillaxing in the publicist's hammock.
That is not place for a Farm cat.
But he sure does look comfortable, doesn't he?
Even so, he does not stop watching what is going on...
whether it is under him -
or around him.
He is a good Farm cat.
But perhaps a sleepy one!
Sherpa had a little nap in the hammock and then he decided it was time for him to get to
his Farm cat duties.
Whatever they are...
So he stretched and took his time leaving the hammock.
As anyone knows who has ever used a hammock.
It is not always easy or graceful when it's time to get out.
But Sherpa did just fine.
He is an experienced hammock user.
Silly Sherpa!
I hope that you are enjoying your days and taking some time to relax.
Hmmm, I wonder if a goat can get in a hammock?

Our Exotic Hen
Today's post is going to be a short post.
I am exhausted.
With all the sunshine we have been having I have been hard at work basking away.
And eating those carrots.
It's hard on a goat and I need my beauty sleep.
So today I am going to introduce you to our exotic hen.
You might recall that the publicist thought she was a Dark Brahma.
She still thinks that.
She is a shy hen and the publicist had a hard time getting pictures of her.
I think she looks pretty funny with her feathered feet.
What do you think?
She does have some very pretty green and purple feathers that light up in the sun but she would not pose so the publicist could show you them.
Maybe another time.
She will soon be laying eggs for the publicist and male person.

Carrots - Are They Good for Goat Eyes Too?
The publicist came into our pen with this:
Needless to say we were very excited goats!
Whether carrots are good for our eyes I do not know.
I do know they are good for our stomachs!
Of course Mallory the bullygoat was first in line.
She does look happy with her carrot.
Marion was not sure about carrots.
She has only had carrot TOPS not carrots. You can see that Mallory was ready to munch that carrot if Marion did not!
Matthew had no trouble deciding whether to eat HIS carrots!
He butt right in and ate quite a few.
I'm surprised the publicist still has 10 fingers.
Nor did Abby.
I, of course nommed mine right up.
I do loves me some carrots.
Nora was her usual shy self.
She will not eat food from the publicist's - or anyone else's - hands.
So the publicist put her carrots on the ground for her.
She did enjoy them...
So did Sarah.
She is, after all eating for two or maybe three!
Even after watching us all eat the tasty carrots little Marion was still not sure.
Oh well, that meant more for us!
You will be shocked to learn that my studmuffin does not like carrots!
So he did not get a treat today.
Are our eyes any stronger? I do not know.
Our stomachs are full and happy. That I DO know.
It really is a wonderful time of year. We get so many delicious treats.
The publicist and male person have so many nice friends to think of us this way.
THANK YOU, THANK YOU, THANK YOU!

Goatucation Returns - Why Are Goats Eyes the Way They Are?
Yes, I know it is Saturday and not usually a day for learning.
But I was asked a question yesterday and I thought it would be rude not to answer it.
I am not a rude goat.
I am not Abby.
One of my lovely readers asked why goats' pupils are horizontal instead of vertical like your human eyes.
If you look at my close up you can see that my eyes are indeed very different from yours.
There are a couple of reasons for this. But first I would like to point out a very interesting fact; goats' pupils are actually rectangular.
You can see that very clearly in the photo.

You can see that very clearly in the photo.
Is that not fascinating?
The first reason for our eyes (and the eyes of other hooved animals) being this way is to increase our peripheral depth perception so that we can see what is off to the sides better in 3D.
The second reason is our eyes allow us to see better at night. This is obviously more important for my wild cousins than it is for us goats here on the Farm. We don't have to worry about being out at night and watching for predators. We have a nice safe and warm barn to sleep in.
Our vision covers 320 - 340 degrees as opposed to human eyesight which covers 160 - 210 degrees. This lets us see almost all the way around us without moving our heads.
Now you are jealous, aren't you?
I hope you enjoyed this Goatucation post today. I think I will goatucate you whenever I receive a question. So if you have a question about goats just ask away.

AbbyDay - Abby Says Adopt a Hard to Adopt Pet
It's AbbyDay and today I am going to share some disturbing news with you.
Did you know that there are lots of poor animals in shelters that don't have a home?
Did you know that most of these animals are older dogs and cats?
Well, I am telling you that this is true.
And I am Abbygoat so you know I don't lie!
These loving dogs and cats are looking for their forever home.
If you are looking for a great pet the best place to look is at a shelter.
You can see we have a widget on our blog where you can go see the wonderful pets available for adoption all around the country.
Just click on the widget and you can learn all about some "hard to adopt" pets.
These are the older pets or pets with maybe some problems.
Don't rule them out. They are still full of love.
Just like me.
WHAT?!
I'm full of love....for Abby.

The Sun!
It came out today!
I was a very excited goat.
I knew I had hard work to do.
I went directly to my assigned location.
I got myself in position.
But I didn't like this way. I needed a change.
I would be here a while and I wanted to be comfortable.
There! Now I am ready for work.
What?!
Basking is VERY hard work.
Not everyone can bask like me.
I am a pro.
Oops.
Well, even pros get tired.
I hope you had a good day at work too.

Wordless Wednesday - Almost
We have been having lots and lots and lots and lots and lots and lots and lots and lots and lots of rain. But at least we got this rainbow.
The publicist put it on her blog but I wanted it on mine too.

So, What WAS in the Bag?
Yesterday I showed you Farm kitten Harry hiding in a bag.
Farm cat Sherpa was telling him that the bag was not for Harry.
Was it for Sherpa perhaps?
Harry didn't think so!
The bag was not for Farm cats at all!
It was for CORN!
The male person filled it with the last of the corn harvest.
He brought it in to help the publicist shuck the corn.
Sherpa helped too.
A lot, apparently.
Sherpa then inspected the corn to make sure they were A-OK.
I told you what was in the bag would lead to a treat for us goats.
WE got the corn husks!
They were - burp - delicious!

What's in the Bag?
The male person was helping the publicist in the kitchen yesterday.
But somehow I don't think THIS belongs in the bag...
Sherpa the Farm cat feels the same way.
But Harry the Farm kitten seems to think this is a good place to be.
In spite of Sherpa's attempt to scare him out of it
What do you think was supposed to be in the bag?
And is there a treat for us goats to follow?

Aaaah, My Studmuffin
To finish off all of the apple eating I take you to MY favorite goat on the Farm my studmuffin, Luke the goat.
Of course the publicist would not leave him out of the applepalooza!
In fact she fed him his apple pieces one by one so he could savor them.
I am not sure he did because he gobbled them up rather quickly!
It is good to see him so happy.
Hi there my darling!
I hope you all enjoyed seeing us get our treats.
There will be more treats coming as the last of the corn has been picked and the stalks will soon be ours!
