What the Farm Cats Saw

You will remember that yesterday I showed you the Farm cats all looking at something in the yurt.
What could it be?
Some of you thought the yurt had a mouse!

EEEK!
This is not true.

The yurt had a visitor!
Black Cat.

You will recall that I introduced you to Black Cat a while ago in THIS POST.
He decided to come into the yurt to check it out.

While visiting he ate some of the Farm cats' food and this happened.

Then he left.
Which was probably good for Harry the Farm kitten.

A Visit from a DOG - Part I

As I showed you yesterday the publicist had a friend stop by and she brought her DOG.
We goats don't like DOGS.
DOGS chase goats.

At least every DOG I have every met has chased me.
Harumph!
It is not nice to chase a goat!

You can see that I was on high alert when I peered out of my pen and saw this DOG.

I was not happy about this visit.
Oh no! Not.At.All.

The publicist's friend was very nice.
But not this DOG, this DOG named Shmoo.

Photobucket

She wanted to get into my pen.
MY pen.

I am very glad the publicist did not allow this.

NONE of us were very happy about the visiting DOG.

Photobucket

And then the DOG had the nerve to appear bored with US.

Can you imagine such a thing?
Harumph!
Next time I will butt this Shmoo and then we will know who is boss!

If I am not running too fast in the other direction.....

A Special Visit!

Sunday was a very special day here on the Happy Goats Farm.
We had some visitors.
That is right!
Julia and her family from Our Simple Life stopped by to see us.
It was very exciting to have company.
Wyatt and Ella went to talk to Mallory.

She was very friendly to them.

Then Wyatt and his Dad had a chat with Abby.

Ella went looking for me but I am embarrassed to admit that I was a bit shy.
What can I say. I am an old, pregnant goat.
We did get lots of extra apples so that made me a very happy, old, pregnant goat.
The publicist and the male person had a nice visit and showed everyone the yurt and they all ate a nice chicken dinner.
No, it wasn't Blue Guy.
Then there was yummy goat's milk ice cream with goat's milk caramel sauce on angel food cake. If I were human I would be hungry right now.

We were all very thrilled to meet some of our blog friends!
Abby will have more to this story on AbbyDay. You know how she is.....

Tomorrow:  Wordless Wednesday

Who's There?

The publicist looked out her window (isn't it amazing how many of my posts start out that way? I don't know what I would do if the publicist ever STOPPED looking out her window) and noticed Jillian  looking off to the West. Intently.

Then Mallory hopped up on a spool and started staring too. Hmmm...

She wondered what could be causing them to be staring so.

Then Emily and Jeffrey joined Jillian on the little goathouse.

Even a rooster was staring. Hmmmm, WHAT could it be?
Why a visitor!
In the field next to ours!

Dusty the horse has come to pay a call.

That or to graze on the grass growing in the field.
What do you think?

Dusty is one of the horses that lives across the street. Dusty is not supposed to be over in this field. Dusty has a HUGE field for grazing across the street.

Bad Dusty!

Jillian was very surprised to see a horse right next to her goat pen!  This is the first time Jillian has been here for one of the Great Horse Escapes. Abby and I have been through them before.....

Dusty is a very pretty horse but also a very erm, challenging horse. She has been known to sneak over AND EAT OUR HAY!
Can you believe such a thing?!
Her owners soon came and took Dusty back to her corral and things calmed down in our pen too.

I hope you enjoyed seeing our visitor as much as we did!

Tomorrow:  Goatucation

The publicist has asked me to tell you that her giveaway for 100 Custom Postcards is ending tonight on her blog so if you want to enter you had better hurry! Mmm, I'd bet postcards would taste good.

Visitors - Our Special Friends Luke and Gretchen

There was big excitement on the Farm yesterday! Our special friends, Luke and Gretchen came to visit us. It is so much fun when children come to see us; they are always so excited at seeing us. Luke the goat was especially playful sproinging around his pen and running back and forth. He is still very shy around any people other than the publicist but I know he enjoyed the attention.

Michael the goat was being a bad boy yesterday; he almost ran the publicist down with his horns as she was trying to exit his pen.She had to run very fast to get out. She was not happy with him AT ALL. So the children had to stay away from him. He gets that way sometimes. You know how bucks can be....

Abigail and I enjoyed having the children here. They tried to feed us some tasty greens through our pen fence. Of course we love anything that has to do with food. Especially me right now; I am eating for three - or more!

Any excitement in our day is welcome. Sometimes just sitting and chewing on one's cud all day can get pretty boring. I know I have some exciting daydreams, but it is also nice to have visitors.

Visitors - Tango the Cat

Today I write another in my Visitors Series. I think my readers like to know about the various types that visit us here at the Farm - please let me know if this is true. We do seem to attract a fair number of feline visitors. I am not so sure why. It could be because the publicist is a cat magnet. I have heard the male person call her this several times. I am not sure he thinks it is a good thing.... And for some reason she seems to attract black cats.

Today's subject is Tango the Cat. He does have a home which is a good thing, but he spends a lot of time here at the farm. Tango belongs to the neighbors to the East of us. They have three dogs and chickens. They also have the most amazing fruit orchard. Our neighbors are very generous in the summer when the fruit is ripe; they let the male person and the publicist come and pick apples, pears, peaches, cherries and plums so the publicist canfreeze and can them for the winter. I will have to make sure I get some photos for you this summer so you can see how beautiful it is.

Tango is here every day sitting on the steps of the trailer. He is very well fed at home but of course the publicist gives him more food. He is a most interesting cat in that he has black fur on top and white fur underneath.(You can see this in a photo further down where he is rolling in the dirt.) Like most of the cats around here I have butt him when he wasn't looking. This is a very bad habit of mine but I must say it is quite comical to watch a cat fly through the air. Since I don't have horns it doesn't hurt them. I really should stop this but.....Tango also has the most amazing turquoise colored eyes. The pictures don't show them off very well.

Tango and the Farm cats (mostly Fred) get into some loud screaching matches. I have never seen them actually fight. They just sit about three feet away from each other and make the most obnoxious sounds two cats can make. This causes the publicist to come out and yell at them. I don't think she likes the noise.
Tango likes to roll around on the ground in the dirt. I think most cats like to do this. I can't say I blame them as it is something we goats do too. It is our "bath." Goats only do it when the dirt is dry - the cats seem to do it anytime. I don't understand cats.

I hope you enjoyed meeting Tango the Cat. I will try to curb my impulse to butt him - but it is just so much fun!

Happy Goats Farm Visitors - Black Cat

Today I want to introduce you to another regular visitor to the Happy Goats Farm. It is a cat the publicist calls "Black Cat" for obvious reasons; he is a black cat! We don't know exactly where he comes from but we think he lives in the barn across the street with the horses.

You remember the horses from Michael's Big Adventure, don't you?

He is a very handsome boy but he does like to get into cat-calling fights with Fred the cat. Boy can they be noisy. Sometimes I think they are going to break my goat eardrums. I really wonder if cats are necessary....but I know there are too many cat lovers out there for me to really go to far with that sentiment.

Black Cat likes to sit in the hay pile and scope out the scene. Sometimes he just sleeps up there all day. Maybe that is why we don't have mice in our barn. What do you think?

Visitors

I love visitors! Goats are naturally social creatures and as a spokesgoat I am even more so. We get plenty of people and other creatures that come to visit here at the Happy Goats Farm. More in the summer than in the winter but I have plenty of social activity all year round.

Today we had a visit from our Bald Eagle. He comes pretty regularly and sits on the big tree at the edge of the river. He is looking for a plump trout to eat for lunch. One time he thought Fred the cat would make a good lunch and he tried to take him away. Fortunately Fred is, uh let's just say well fed, and he was too heavy for the eagle to carry. Poor Fred had to go the emergency Vet and have his fur shaved but he was OK. Now Fred watches very closely for the eagle.

The Bald Eagle is our national bird and we are lucky to have a nesting pair not too far from us. My publicist took the photo.
