Battling Bucks

I have written about the crazy antics of Luke and Michael many times in the past. Since Jillian and Mallory have arrived those silly bucks have really been trying to show off. You would think Michael would be happy; he did after all have his dates where he got to dance the paso doble with Jillian and the Argentine Tango with Mallory. But noooooo, not these bucks! Every morning they start their show. They bow their heads at each other

and they charge!

Sometimes Luke has the advantage....

...and sometimes it is Michael.

The sounds; the snorts, the crashes!

To tell you the truth this old goat is getting tired of it. There is a time and a place for everything and every morning is NOT the time.
Luke and Michael even seem to think the publicist is a doe! She is a bit, uhm, disconcerted by this. She is DEFINITELY not a goat!

Don't forget that that you can buy a Flock of (soap) Chickens in my shop! And if you put "blog" in the notes to seller the publicist will give you a $1.00 refund to your paypal account. In other SpokesGoat news Spring Bouquet and Lavender soaps are now on the curing shelf.

Michael and Luke - From Fighting to Friends

Michael and Luke tend to be the forgotten goats around here, especially since Kevin arrived. But they are very important members of the Happy Goats Farm. Without them we wouldn't have, well Kevin. So I thought it would be nice to show you a day in their life. The publicist brings them out of the barn and puts them into their pen where they eat their grain and then attack their hay. Unfortunately they then attack each other...

This behavior has really been on display since Jillian and Mallory have arrived. I suspect they are trying to impress the new does on the Farm. Silly bucks! I guess Luke is a little jealous too since Michael got to go on dates with the girls.

To help blow off some of their steam the publicist let them out for a bit of a graze. They enjoyed this; nibbling on the green grass growing around the Farm.

Then they went back into their pen where they made up and had a relaxing afternoon.

So, as much as they fight they really do love each other. Good boys!

Only a few more days remaining to sign up for the newsletter and be eligible for the drawing for THREE BARS of my rich soap. May 16th is the last day...so come on, sign up!

Goat Revolt

I have to admit I wasn't a very good goat today. Neither was Abby. The weather hasn't been very nice lately and we are, uhmm, perhaps I should say, prima donna goats and we don't like rain or snow. We like bright sunshine. The last few days have been nothing but rain and wet snow. So when we looked out the barn door this morning and AGAIN saw snow coming down from the sky we really did not want to leave the warm, dry barn. I know we have our lovely little goat house but it is not as nice as the barn and not as big. Plus there is the long walk to get there. I would get my fur all wet. Really, isn't that just too much to ask of a goat?

So when the publicist tried to get us out of the barn we both just refused to leave. She then put our leads on us and got us to go out one door (she had mistakenly locked herself in -hee hee - and had to open the second door to get herself out. She then got the second door opened. Silly publicist!) So we ran out one door, around the barn and right back in the other door! I think we frustrated her a bit because we did this several times before she could get one of the doors shut again. We finally got down to our pen and ran to our goat house.

The boys didn't care as much about the weather at first, they were just happy to be out butting heads. Boys will be boys. But once they got settled into their pens even they started to MAAAAA very loudly about the conditions. The snow was coming down very hard. The publicist got the barn all fixed up and she then brought us all back in for the day. I must say that this spokesgoat was happy about that.

The Tale of the Extra Goat Treat: Part IV, Me! Pricilla

Now of course I am going to think this is the best chapter in our ongoing Tale because it is about MY share of the delicious goat treat. You saw me waiting (not) so patiently while Luke ate his treat. Then the publicist brought that big bowl of yummy apples into my pen. I did my famous Goat Dance of Joy when I saw it coming - no one has been able to capture this on film as of yet. I am too clever about where I dance.

I ran down to my spool where I share goat treat with Abby - she jumps on top and I stay on the bottom. If you will recall from Abby's tale, this way I get whatever drops down from above. I am not a dumb goat!

Unlike the other goats, I think I look adorable with apple coming out of my mouth.

I make sure to eat every delicious bite - apple is one of my favorite goat treats. Pears are second, carrots third, broccoli leaves fourth, spinach fifth....well, I could go on. I guess I like a lot of good things that grow in a garden.

So now you have a job to do. YOU have to pick the goat you think enjoyed their goat treat the most. Was it Luke who did look cute standing up on his gate. Or Abby who gave that fierce look that said, "back away from the goat treat." Or Michael, who escaped when his gate was left open.
Or Me, who looks the cutest with apple coming out of her mouth. Just post you answer here - voting will remain open until Saturday, February 7th, when Mr. Randomizer will pick a winner. The lucky person will get to pick a bar of my rich soap for a prize. How easy is that?

The Tale of the Extra Goat Treat: Part I, Luke

As I mentioned yesterday our publicist made an apple cobbler on Saturday. This left her with a bowl full of apple peels and pieces. She know how much we love apples so she brought us each a special goat treat to enjoy. While we were munching away she took some pictures so you could see just how much we looooooooove our goat treat. Each day for the next four days I am going to show you the pictures and then you will have a chance to vote and pick who you think enjoyed their goat treat the most. Anyone who votes will have a chance to win a bar of my rich soap. Isn't that exciting? So tell your your friends to come read about our special goat treat!

Today I am showing you Luke. Since he is the baby in the bunch he got his goat treat first. He was very happy; he was doing his little goat dance and his tail was a 'wagging. He tried to get his whole body through his gate but only his head would fit.

He munched and munched and munched. He is not a neat eater, is he?
You can see me waiting patiently (?) in the background.

I think he looks pretty funny with apple coming out of his mouth, don't you?

Tomorrow you will get to see how much Abigail enjoyed her goat treat.

Mischievous Goats

Today I have to admit that I and the other goats were quite mischievous. When the publicist/udder massage specialist let Abigail and me out of the barn we didn't run to our pen as we ususally do. We wanted to explore. We are tired of winter and we want to try and find some nice greens to nibble on, or even a tree to chew. Hay gets old after a bit; it's time for Spring! It took the publicist a bit of time to round us up and I will admit that when she grabbed my collar I started to run. This was very entertaining because the publicist doesn't weigh much and the ground is still a sheet of ice. It was like the publicist was water skiing behind me. Hee hee. I know this was not nice of me but it was very funny. I stopped before she fell, though and then I went into my pen. Abigail was soon rounded up as well.

Then came time for the boys to come down from the barn. They were very excited to get outside too! They did their high kicks and were butting heads so hard I think the neighbors all the way down the street could hear the cracks. The publicist finally got them seperated and into their pens but Luke managed to get his gate open and escape! He wanted to explore just like me. I don't blame him; he hasn't had much besides hay to eat either and would love a munch of something green.

I don't mean to complain - we do get our goat treat at night and you know how much I love my apples. In fact the rest of this week's posts will be a contest to see who enjoyed their special goat treat most. Our publicist made an apple cobbler on Saturday and there were lots of extra peelings for us to share. She took pictures of all of us eating our treat. I think it is going to be fun to share them with you.

Our publicist is lots of fun. Just to entertain us today she fell off of the hay pile! We tried not to laugh at her but it was pretty funny. Especially the words she exclaimed as she fell. But I am not going to tell you what they were - this is a family blog.

Furry

Today there is a blog photo hunt for "Furry" so I present to you a photo of Luke. Since he is still a young buck - he was born on May 28, 2008 - he still has his baby fur. I don't say that around him because he likes to think he is a big strong buck not a baby buck. In fact, the publicist calls him Baby Buck and it drives him crazy!

His baby fur is very fluffy and not all that soft.

Here is an up close view.

I don't stand too close to him because well, he smells. All bucks smell, especially in the Fall but I won't go into that in a family blog.

As you can see in the photo Luke is eating some hay.

Luke is usually eating something!

I hope you enjoyed this furry photo.

Happy Goats Farm Interview - Luke the Goat

I continue today with the interviews with my fellow animals on the Happy Goats Farm. Today I am introducing you to Luke the goat. He is the only goat on the farm to whom I did not give birth! So here we go:

So, Luke how did you come to be at the Happy Goats Farm?
When I was just a little buckling at the Glory Bea Farm in Washington State one day a man came in a truck and put me in a carrier. Then I went for a long, long, long, long, long ride. It was windy and noisy and I was scared. But then when it ended I found myself at the Happy Goats Farm. I will admit that I was still scared when I arrived. It was so new and different. I missed my brother. I missed my mother. But then...then...I saw YOU! It was love at first sight.

Now Luke, keep to the interview....

What do you do here at the farm?
I eat a lot of hay and grain. I love my goat treat at night but only if it is apples or pears. I don't like carrots. I like to play with Michael the goat. And well, this is a family blog so I won't go into my other, uh, duties. I love you, I love you, I love you, I love you.

LUKE!

What do you like best about the Happy Goats Farm?
You! Want to go out later tonight?

Ugh, I can see I am not going to get anywhere with this interview either. The bucks on this farm are just too difficult to have a civil conversation with.
I hope you enjoyed this little peak into Luke the goat's little mind.
