Big Changes

Wow! Was there a big change in my barn last night. It caught me by surprise. It also made me very happy. I now have my very own pen! It used to be I had to share a pen with Abby. I have chronicled in this blog how Abby is less than friendly to me - and I am her mother! She butts me to get to the hay first and doesn't let me have any until she has eaten her fill. If the publicist comes in with a treat she butts me out of the way so she can get there first. This does not work though as the publicist see right through her and makes sure we each get our treat at the same time and in equal amounts.

The stress of living with such a contentious kid was getting to me though and the male person really gave me a nice little pen all to myself. It has a bench for me to sit on and my own little hay feeder. I am going to be sure to get some photos today to show you. It was too dark last night when he finished so I couldn't take any after I was done looking inspecting my new digs. I am so excited.

I knew I would have to be somewhere alone to have my kids. A goat always has a place to herself to kid. I just didn't know the male person was going to do something so nice for me. Now I can sleep in peace anywhere I want in my own little slice of heaven pen. Of course Abby now has her own pen too, but really, do I care about that?

Michael's Big Adventure

Today Michael the goat went on a big adventure. Every so often the publicist/udder massage specialist takes Michael the goat for a walk. He needs to get out and work off some uh, excess energy. He gets very excited about these walks. He is also a very good goat on his walks; he loves the publicist as she bottle fed him as a baby so he thinks she is his mother.

His pen gate opened and Michael bounded out into the driveway and......slid on the ice! He was so excited - doing his high kicks - that he forgot like we all do that the driveway is an ice skating rink. It rather took away from his grand exit. Then off he happily trotted following behind the publicist as she headed for the goat barn. This is where he strayed. It was the hay pile. I must admit to being pulled by the allure of the hay pile myself. So much hay just sitting there for the munching. It's hard to resist and Michael didn't; he climbed right onto it and started eating hay. Michael's favorite thing next to a doe is hay.

Then it was off to see the horses across the street. They are so pretty and friendly. Sometimes they escape from their corral and come to visit us. But they also come and eat our hay! Now, I don't go and eat their hay so I think they should leave our hay alone. All four of them were in our yard one day last summer eating from our hay pile. Humpf! Horses eat a lot of hay. But I digress.....Michael enjoyed saying "Maaaaaa" to the horses and they neighed in return.

From there it was a quick trip through the goat barn for an extra handful of grain - lucky goat! Now Michael is back in his pen eating hay! The sun is shining today so we are all Happy Goats!

SpokesGoat Alert - Now to be Known as The Coveted Scratch of the Tail Award!

I was thinking about "SpokesGoat Alerts" and how boring that must sound so I have come up with a new idea. I have run this by my publicist and she thinks it is a marvelous idea! Perhaps you recall from an earlier post my comment on how much I enjoy a good scratch of my tail. I thought it would be a good idea to rename the SpokesGoat Alerts and call them The Coveted Scratch of the Tail Awards. I don't know about you but nothing feels better to me than a scratch on the tail...

So here we grant the first two Coveted Scratch of the Tail Awards: they are presented for two beautiful Treasuries on etsy featuring Happy Goats Soaps.

The first list was curated by JunkyardGypsy and features our Rich Goat's Milk Shaving Soap Scented with Dragon's Blood - don't be scared it's a sexy scent with a cinnamon overtone. Her shop is full of recycled items and there is even an barnyard friend for me!

The second curation by TamaraDesigns shows our Sea Urchin Soap Scented with Lavender. (Aren't the new pictures great?) I took a look through Tamara's shop and she makes beautifully detailed paper cutouts. I love this one, don't you?

I thank both of these lovely creators and bestow upon them the Coveted Scratch of the Tail Award!

Ahhh, Sunday!

I love my Sundays. I don't have any official spokesgoat duties and I just get to relax and enjoy myself. Unfortunately today was not a nice day. I woke up to another new layer of snow. Now my publicist is very nice about getting the snow off of my hay pile, but really! I am getting tired of all this snow. I can't find any little weeds to nibble on or any fresh grass. A goat gets tired of hay, hay, hay and more hay.

But I am not going to be a whining goat. I will share with you a funny story. Yesterday Michael decided he didn't want to stay in his pen. Why yesterday was his day to attempt to escape I have no idea but it was fun to watch. He would run up the side of his fence and LEAP. Well, after about 5 attempts - HE MADE IT! He jumped right out of his pen. Now I did not give him up but shortly thereafter the publicist/udder massage therapist came out and Michael went trotting up to her quite proud of himself. Needless to say, she was not happy....pen adjustments were made.

Starting next week I am going to interview the other goats on the Happy Goats Farm so you can get to know them better. Perhaps I will start with Michael so he can tell you more about his athletic feats.
