I'm King of the World....the Hay World

As I have written about in several posts before we now have a HUGE hay pile on the Farm. You also know we were all bad goats in the hay pile. But Kevin, well his experience in the hay pile is a story all on its own.
Kevin jumped into the hay pile just like the rest of us, but he didn't stop at the bottom.

Then he hopped all the way up to the top!

He stayed up there even though Mallory was erm, encouraging him to come down.

I swear I heard him maaaaaa something to the effect that he was, "King of the world."

Crazy goat!
He did some exploring while he was up there. What he was looking for, I have no idea.

Aaaah, a tasty bite of hay to munch! I should have known.

He should know better, silly boy. When he went to climb the hay pile the next day the publicist told him NO! and she put him in his pen so he could learn his lesson. I somehow doubt it....What do you think?

Harry and the Hay Pile

Oooh, the hay pile is sure seeing its fair share of attention these days. As you know by now the male person brought home our hay for the winter. We thank him for doing all of that heavy work for us. We know we will eat well when the green grass and tasty weeds stop growing. You saw yesterday how we were erm, not so good goats when we were climbing all over the hay pile. Even little Harry got in on the hay pile action! You read that correctly. Little baby Harry was a baaaaad goat. But you have to admit even when he is being a bad goat, he is a cute goat!

Abby led Harry to the hay pile and when she jumped up and started munching away Harry figured out that this might be a tasty place to hop.

He tried to jump up but his first try wasn't quite successful. He IS a tiny goatling yet.

Finally! Harry makes the jump up to the hay pile! It seems to give him confidence because from here on out he was just jumping and flying all over the hay!

He leapt from bale to bale.

He leapt from bale to ground.

He leapt, he leapt all around! Well, Kevin got a poem....

He stopped to sniff the rake handle and decided it wasn't something he wanted to munch.

He did eventually stop all that running and leaping to actually EAT some hay. Nom, nom, nom as Daisy the Curly Cat would say.

I am not sure we older goats should be teaching these bad things to our little goats but that new hay just tastes sooooooo good. I've said it before, we goats are very food oriented. Which is a nice lead in to Monday's Goatucation post - heh heh. You would think I planned that wouldn't you. Be sure to check back when I answer the question "What do you goats eat on the Happy Goats Farm."

Hey...HAY!

As you know from yesterday's post the male person went and got our hay for the winter. Now when we first saw the HUGE pile of hay I have to admit we were a little scared of it and had to be coaxed into the barn. We goats don't like change. I mean look at all that hay!

But by the next day we were VERY comfortable with the hay pile. VERY COMFORTABLE. Can you tell?

Abby, of course was up there too. Abby doesn't miss a chance to be a bad goat.

We are not allowed in the hay pile but this did not stop us. Not with all that good hay to eat.
Oh no! Even little Harry was participating in this orgy of hay eating. I will detail his tale in another post as his first experience hopping up and down on the big bales of hay is just too cute to be ignored.

I and all of the goats here on the Farm want to take this opportunity to wish all of you humans out there in the United States a Happy Fourth of July. We will be hiding in our barn when the fireworks start. We don't like fireworks....all those noises that sound like gunshots are not for us.

Busy Day on the Farm

Yesterday was a busy day on the Farm. Kevin was his active little self. As he gets older - I can hardly believe he is going to be two weeks old on Monday - he is getting more rambunctious. This is the way of kids. He was exploring all over the place and practicing his jumping. He discovered the hay pile! I don't blame him for being interested in the hay pile! He gave it a good sniff.

He climbed up on one bale - which to him is a very high climb.

He maaaaed to me as if to say,"Hey Ma, look what I can do!"

And he jumped!

He has been practicing his high kicks too.

He is so active the publicist can hardly keep up to get good pictures. But he did finally wear himself out and settle down for a little nap. Which was good because I needed the rest.

All in all a lovely day on the Farm. Tomorrow I am going to tell you a tale of Jillian and Mallory. I am sure you would like to learn more about the new goats on the Farm.

Michael's Big Adventure

Today Michael the goat went on a big adventure. Every so often the publicist/udder massage specialist takes Michael the goat for a walk. He needs to get out and work off some uh, excess energy. He gets very excited about these walks. He is also a very good goat on his walks; he loves the publicist as she bottle fed him as a baby so he thinks she is his mother.

His pen gate opened and Michael bounded out into the driveway and......slid on the ice! He was so excited - doing his high kicks - that he forgot like we all do that the driveway is an ice skating rink. It rather took away from his grand exit. Then off he happily trotted following behind the publicist as she headed for the goat barn. This is where he strayed. It was the hay pile. I must admit to being pulled by the allure of the hay pile myself. So much hay just sitting there for the munching. It's hard to resist and Michael didn't; he climbed right onto it and started eating hay. Michael's favorite thing next to a doe is hay.

Then it was off to see the horses across the street. They are so pretty and friendly. Sometimes they escape from their corral and come to visit us. But they also come and eat our hay! Now, I don't go and eat their hay so I think they should leave our hay alone. All four of them were in our yard one day last summer eating from our hay pile. Humpf! Horses eat a lot of hay. But I digress.....Michael enjoyed saying "Maaaaaa" to the horses and they neighed in return.

From there it was a quick trip through the goat barn for an extra handful of grain - lucky goat! Now Michael is back in his pen eating hay! The sun is shining today so we are all Happy Goats!
