My Favorite Posts: Surfin' Montana Style

I have picked this next post as one of my favorites because it includes my last kid, Kevin the goat. I was very sad to not have any more kids. Kevin was a special little goat. I hope you enjoy it....

Cowabunga dude!

We do things differently here in Montana. We don't have an ocean so if my kid wants to surf I have to improvise...

Dare I say, the hopping continues and the publicist finally got some photos of my hopping kid hopping on me.

Little did I ever imagine I would be a prop for a goat. *sigh*

Hop, hop, hop.*

A Day Late for Dr. Seuss Day - But What the Hey (Hay?)

Yesterday was Dr. Seuss Day and the publicist missed it!
What a silly woman.
So today I am making sure to do something about remembering Dr. Seuss.
Do you remember my very last kid, Kevin the goat?
I do.
I think a nanny always remembers her first and her last a little more then all of the others.

Keven was a little hopper.
He hopped on EVERYTHING.
Even me.
So one day the publicist came up with this little story - it's a bit like the Dr. Seuss story, Hop on Pop so I thought it would be fun to re-run it for you today. Some of you were not reading my blog when Kevin was here so this might be fun for you.

I hope you enjoy Hop on Prop!

Kevin is a hopping kid. I am sure you remember this post where Kevin was trying to hop on ME. He has actually succeeded in hopping on me but the publicist hasn't gotten a photo of it yet. I don't know what he is trying to accomplish; whether he wants a ride or just to see what is going on. Any way the kid will hop on anything. One of our wonderful commenters suggested I write a book like the wonderful Dr. Seuss book Hop on Pop. I have decided Kevin's book should be Hop on Prop since he will hop on ANYTHING.

He will hop on hay

He will hop and play

He will hop on me

He will hop and flee

He will hop on a stump

He will hop on the trash dump

And just to show he has no sense
He will even hop on some fence!

I hope you enjoyed hopping with Kevin. I personally now have a headache from all that hopping. He is an active kid and growing up to be a nice buck.

Kevin the goat left our Farm to go live on another Farm and as far as we all know he is doing just fine.

Rememberings: Post Redux - The Publicist is Not Feeling Well

The publicist is not feeling well so I am rerunning a post today. Meet My Friends Monday will return next week. I hope you like this look back - I sure did!

For the first time the publicist is writing the blog! I am most happy to report that after a day of labor we have a new little buck on the Happy Goats Farm - please welcome Kevin the goat.

I stayed with Pricilla for her labor; she seemed more at ease when I sat with her, so sit with her I did. I can't say my back was happy with that decision but Pricilla was. Fortunately for her she had Kevin right before I had to leave for a doctor's appointment. I just knew she would go into labor when I had to be somewhere!

Both the male person and I were expecting twins as Pricilla had always had them in the past but this time she only had one kid. But he is a rather large kid so perhaps that is why there is only one. He is a cute little guy and more photos will follow. Funny that a mostly brown goat and cow colored goat could create a almost all white goat. The recessive genes in these animals are amazing for color.

Oh, we would have had more pictures from the birth but the male person thought using the flash was the way to go...it was not. That is all I am going to say.

**The publicist says she should be back all fit as a fiddle tomorrow for Abby to write her AbbyDay post. I sure hope so. I wouldn't want to be the one to tell Abby she couldn't write her blog...

Sweet Kid on Sunday

It's Sunday and I have been working pretty hard lately. What? You don't think a goat works hard? Harumph! I have to keep Kevin in line, I have the keep the weeds trimmed, I am the Head Goat around here so I keep the other goats organized, I am SpokesGoat AND I write this blog. Whew! That is a lot of work for one small goat. So I think I deserve a day now and then of semi-lazy blog writing. Just don't tell the publicist. She might keep my apples away from me or something.

So for today I am just going to share a very nice photo of Kevin. I know all of you are in love with Harry; he has that cowgoat thing going. But I still love my kid, Kevin. So here he is. I think he is just a real cutie!

Tomorrow I will get back to informative posts as it is Goatucation day.

Kid of the Hill

The big goats are not the only creatures on the Farm that enjoy the weeds up on the Hill. The little kids like to go up there too. I don't blame them! As I showed you yesterday there are lots of yummy knapweeds up there and boy are they delicious. Little Harry and Kevin did their fare share of munching.

Kevin loves to eat. But sometimes it is just nice to stop and enjoy the view.

But then some serious munching must be done.

Harry just tries to not get lost in the weeds.

He is still small you know.

We have been having a fair bit of rain lately but today when we were heading up to the barn for the night we saw this.

The publicist said it's been a long time since she saw the complete arc of a rainbow. It was very vibrant in person.

Tune in tomorrow for our next Goatucation post!

Ultimate Spool Supremacy - The Kids Do Battle - Part II

Today I continue the exciting recitation of the tale of The Ultimate Spool Supremacy - The Kids Do Battle. If you will remember we left off with little Harry being butted around by Kevin. But was this the end of the story? Did little Harry recover to win the battle? Well, I will now go back into SportsGoat mode to report.

When last we saw Harry he was barely holding on to his perch on the spool.

And he did get butted off by the larger Kevin but he hopped right back up again.Ready to battle again.

They danced around each other

And Kevin seemed to have the upper hand, er, hoof.

But then Harry gave one of his super leaps

That awed Kevin into submission....

or did it?
Come back tomorrow for the Wordless Wednesday conclusion and see the winner of the battle.

Ultimate Spool Supremacy - The Kids Do Battle, Part I

Today instead of being a SpokesGoat I am a Sports Reporter. I am here to give you a play by play on the next round of Ultimate Spool Supremacy - The Kids Do Battle. Yes, you read that correctly! You are right in that this means that little Harry has learned to jump up on the spools. Since he has learned to leap up there he just wants to play and play and play! And what better playmate than Kevin the goat? They are pretty close in size and age so they are a good match up.

So here is my report. In this corner we have Harry the goat, small but fast; and able to leap.

In this corner we have Kevin the goat, a little bigger, with noticeable horns; and able to hop. Perhaps overconfident.

The opponents bow to each other before the match and agree to play fair.

Kevin comes out strong with a good butt to Harry that almost upends him.

But little Harry is quick and he runs around to respond.

But then, Kevin seems to get the upper erm, horn...

Come back Tuesday to see how the battle ends up! Tomorrow will be Goatucation with a question from The Old Grey Egg from Random Living on a Northwoods Farm- What's your opinion on dehorning? If it's decided to have a hornless goat, what's your preferred method?

Kevin in the Wood Pile

Aaaah, the wood pile! I love the wood pile! As you have seen we have ALL been enjoying the wood pile lately, from Harry, to Abby to Jillian and Mallory. But who is left? Why the little white goat! What did Kevin do in the wood pile - why eat, of course!

He also showed his nephew Harry where some of the best bits to eat could be found.

Isn't he a nice Uncle?
He loves to scratch his head on the branches in the wood pile - I have to admit it does feel good!

He loves to clamber about. Sometimes I wonder about him, but I guess I know what he is doing. He explores the part of the wood pile that has the waste wood from the building of the publicist's house. He is not supposed to go there but he does. Baaaad Kevin!

Isn't he just the cutest kid?

Tomorrow you will learn what what happened when Harry met Stinky.

I'm King of the World....the Hay World

As I have written about in several posts before we now have a HUGE hay pile on the Farm. You also know we were all bad goats in the hay pile. But Kevin, well his experience in the hay pile is a story all on its own.
Kevin jumped into the hay pile just like the rest of us, but he didn't stop at the bottom.

Then he hopped all the way up to the top!

He stayed up there even though Mallory was erm, encouraging him to come down.

I swear I heard him maaaaaa something to the effect that he was, "King of the world."

Crazy goat!
He did some exploring while he was up there. What he was looking for, I have no idea.

Aaaah, a tasty bite of hay to munch! I should have known.

He should know better, silly boy. When he went to climb the hay pile the next day the publicist told him NO! and she put him in his pen so he could learn his lesson. I somehow doubt it....What do you think?

Uh-Oh

The publicist came out of the barn and what do you suppose she saw? Knowing this is a Farm full of crazy goats I suppose all manner of thoughts are running through your heads so I will tell you right now to stop the suspense.

She saw Kevin the goat in THE BUCK PEN!!!! Now, granted Kevin the goat was born a buck but he is technically no longer a buck so he does not belong in the buck pen. But there he was.

Michael the goat and Luke the goat didn't know what to do with this little white goat in their midst. He didn't smell like a buck and he didn't smell like a doe. WHAT was he?

They chased him around for a bit. First Michael chased him hither and yon.

Then Luke chased him yon and hither.

Kevin finally decided this was not a good place for a small white goat and he found the hole in the fence through which he entered. I sure hope he learned to not go in the buck pen. Those boys could hurt him!

The publicist had her share of challenges taking these photos so I hope you all appreciate her efforts for you. The bucks think she is a doe and every time she goes in the buck pen they, erm, mark her. Among other things......
