AbbyDay: Dreaming of Sunnier Days - A Happy Goats Video Extra

It has been raining most of this week.
Pfffft!
I don't like rain.
It is wet.
So I thought it would be nice to remember back when there was warm sun and we went grazing by the river.

Mmmmm, warm sun!
I hope I see it again soon.

I hope you enjoyed the video extra.
If you have warm sun would you please send it my way?
I would appreciate it!

I Thank You!

I just wanted to say thank you to all of my nice readers who wrote such nice things when I told you all that I lost my kid this year.

I am feeling better and will now get back to writing the blog as usual.

To answer some of your questions I really don't know exactly why I lost my baby but these things do happen. I don't think I will have any more kids; I am an old goat at 13 and I will probably just enjoy grazing, basking and eating apples. Not bad.

You all made me feel very loved and I truly appreciate that.

I am very happy that my Sarah might be coming back to live on the Farm. I haven't seen her in a long time and it will be nice to have her back. She was a very cute kid - you know her best as the goat coat model.

And there will be lots of kids to ooooh and aaaah over as Abby will be having hers soon and Mallory will have hers in a couple of months.

So I say let's all be happy goats!
That's the way it should be!

OK publicist, I'm waiting patiently. May I go out now?

Extra AbbyDay: We Might Have New Goats This Summer

We are all very sad about Pricilla and she is taking a rest day today so I get to have an extra day on the blog. While I am happy about extra AbbyDays I am not happy about having them for this reason.

I heard the male person and the publicist talking and there is a chance that my first kid Nora might be coming back to the Farm! Isn't that exciting? Pricilla's kid Sarah would be coming back too but that isn't as exciting to me.

My Nora was a very beautiful baby. I know I have shown you her photo before but I will remind you of how cute she was.

I have not seen her since she was three months old and now she is two years old! I can only imagine what she looks like now. I really hope it comes to pass.

I enjoyed going for grazes with my little baby.

It will be nice to have my old baby here when my new baby arrives.  So keep your fingers crossed that she comes home.

Oh, and Sarah too.

Goatucation: A Sad Lesson Today

For today's Goatucation I need to discuss something very sad.
It seems I have lost my baby.
I know. I am very sad too.
The publicist has done a bit of research on the computer and she thinks it might be because I was rammed by one of the other goats. I am not telling who - Mallory - but I am also an old goat and these things happen sometimes.

It is also possible I was never pregnant in the first place but I'm not telling.

So to goatucate you on goats and miscarriage it most often happens because the doe gets rammed by a pen mate. It can also happen if the doe eats moldy hay but the publicist never gives us that. We only get yummy fresh hay around here and besides I am a fussy goat and wouldn't eat moldy hay any way. There are a number of other diseases that can cause miscarriage too including:

Toxoplasma - this is found in cat poop
Salmonella
Mycoplasma
John's disease
Listeria

Don't they sound scary?

I just know I am very sad not to be having a kid this year and will be sad when Abby's kid comes. I hope you all understand.

I will leave you with a photo of me and Kevin from last year. It makes me happy to remember Kevin.

Tomorrow:  I don't know yet. I might take the day off and give the blog to Abby.

Sherpa the Farm Kitten Cleans Up

Another week has come full circle and it's time again for

SUNDAY MOVIES WITH THE HAPPY GOATS

This week our movie stars Sherpa the Farm kitten. I think Sherpa really needs to be called Farm cat these days. He is growing big!

And I don't know if he hires out or not. You will have to ask the publicist.

Tomorrow:  Goatucation

Matthew and the Trailer

Matthew is growing up!
He is starting to explore on his own.
It is only right. He does not need his nanny as much any longer.
The other day he decided to check out the male person's trailer.

I can understand why.
It's the trailer the male person uses to bring home our delicious hay.
It is covered with yummy hay dust.

If I could jump up there I would.
But my old legs won't jump like that any more.
He checked out the back.

He checked out the side.
I wonder what he saw.

Then he decided to come down.
He thought about it a bit.

And he really wasn't very graceful about it at all!

He almost fell off!

But he finally made it back down.
Whew!

What a silly boy!

AbbyDay: The Many Sides Of ME!

It's AbbyDay so that means I get to take over the blog and talk all about ME.
My favorite topic.
I am a bit upset though because the publicist has taken a lot of photos of me that are perhaps not the most flattering.
She says I have to show them to you because they will make you laugh.
Pffft!
Just because I am pregnant I have to show all my lumps?

Well here I am from the front. You can see I am already questioning this.

And here I am from above.
I like this view because I don't look so lumpy.

This is the worse - here I am from behind.

Here is my "mad at the publicist" face.

She just laughs at me.
Pffft again!

I will get her though. She does not know that Luke escaped and I danced the Samba with him and I am due sooner than she thinks. Ha!

Tomorrow:  Matthew goes exploring

See Luke Run!

It's time for a Happy Goats Video Extra!!!
My studmuffin was just full of energy the day the publicist had him out of his pen.
Just look at him run!
She can hardly keep up with him!

Go Luke go!
Isn't he just the fastest, cutest little guy EVER?!

The Publicist Sees One of My Cousins!

The publicist and the male person went on a picnic on Saturday.
That was very nice for them but THEY DID NOT TAKE US!
Harumph!
Can you imagine such a thing?
They left us here at the Farm. Alone!
Harumph again!

They went and saw pretty things like this

and this

and to top it all off they saw one of my cousins!
At first he was very hard to find in the brush.

Then he stood up!

That's right! A yearling moose!

A moose is a ruminant just like me.
Only bigger.
And funnier looking.
OK - maybe that wasn't so nice but you have to admit that moose are rather funny looking critters.
After the publicist took a bunch of photos he started to hide himself in the brush.

Can YOU find the moose?

The publicist and male person had a very nice picnic.
Or so I heard.
It's not like I was THERE or anything....

Goatucation: Putting the Cart Before the Goat

It's Monday so that means I must Goatucate you.
I am going to tell you about something shocking.
Something you will not believe.

Some people put harnesses on their goats and make them pull carts!
Are you not shocked?!
The male person wants to do this to ME!
To ME!
So I wanted to Goatucate you all to this practice so you could tell me if you are as horrified as I am. I do not think I should pull a cart to haul around the publicist.
Harumph!

I am a SpokesGoat, not a goat with spokes.
This is what one of these.....things look like

(photo from my favorite goat store - Hoegger's Goat Supply)

I mean really.
They are meant for wethers, not famous goats like me.
Maybe Matthew should pull the cart.
He should do SOMETHING around this Farm.

If you want to learn more about this SHOCKING idea there is actually an American Harness Goat Association! Those goats must be being slipped something in their grain.
THAT has to be it!

I don't care what the male person thinks - I will never pull a goat cart!
Harumph!

Tomorrow:  The publicist and male person meet one of my cousins.

Sunday Movies with The Happy Goats

Oh boy!
It's the end of the weekend so you know what that means, don't you?
That's right!

SUNDAY MOVIES WITH THE HAPPY GOATS!

Our Aunt Jen asked if we goats know our names. I think you can tell from this movie that we may know them but we don't pay attention to them!
The publicist is getting a little bit panicked nervous about Luke running towards the road as a car is coming.

But wasn't my studmuffin's hoppy run funny?
He is truly a Happy Goat!
I hope you enjoyed this week's movie. I know I did - it starred my love!
I might just sit back and watch it again.
Tomorrow:  Goatucation

The Mulch Pile

The male person has two mulch piles.
That is right!
Two mulch piles!
That is a lot of mulch. But he does have a great big garden.

Sometimes I like to explore the mulch pile and see if there is anything interesting in there.

 This time there was not.
At least not interesting to a goat.

The chickens thought otherwise.
It looks like they are having a good time.
It looks like a chicken party!
What do you think?

AbbyDay: I am a Grazing Machine. Don't Mess with Me!

The grass is really starting to gow around the Farm.
This is when I start to show my worth. Unlike some other goats here (uh-hem Pricilla) I am a grazing machine.

I go out every day and help the male person keep the Farm looking good.
I get in my grazing "zone." I don't like to be disturbed.
Matthew hasn't learned this yet.

Sometimes I have to give him a little erm, encouragment to remind him who's the SuperGrazer!

Pffft!
I graze alone!

That is how it is with all of the greats.

Screen? What Screen

Sherpa the Farm Kitten seems to think it is very unfair that Stinky and Pumpkin get to go outside and he has to stay inside.
He has been looking for ways to make his escape!

The publicist was cooking a big birthday dinner for the male person and she opened one of the windows in the trailer and of course Sherpa went to investigate.

He discovered that the screen was not attached very well.
He peaked out.

Hmmm, he thought. This might work.

"Hey Goat, is this the way to freedom?"

Uh oh!

He finally realized that the publicist was the one taking the photos and back in he went.
Silly Sherpa!

Tomorrow: It's AbbyDay!

Not So Wordless Wednesday

Our friend, Da Bean is giving this cute little guy away on his blog, A Day in the Life of Da Bean. The giveaway ends on April 17th so you have to hurry on over to enter. The publicist is hoping to win it for the male person because guess what?!

TODAY IS HIS BIRTHDAY!!!

That is right. Our very special male person is having his big day today.
We want him to know that we love him very much and are so happy that he is there to take care of us. We know we run away from him sometimes but that doesn't mean we don't really love him. We are just playing hard to pet.

So, just for you male person:

Maaaaa maaamaaaa maaa to you
Maaaaa maaamaaaa maaa to you
Maaaaa maaamaaaaaaaaaa dear male person!
Maaaaa maaamaaaa to YOU!

We hope you have a day full of apples and grain!

A Treat for ME

The publicist is being very nice to me right now that my kid is due any day.
She is giving me special treats.

Is that for me?
Of course it is!

Mmmmm, carrot!
Of course I came right over.

Hey Matthew! That is MY carrot!
(He does look a bit wild eyed, doesn't he?)

It is a mighty tasty vegetable.

You might even call me a carrot chomper.
But that might sound unladylike, and I am a ladylike goat!

Uh-oh! I better eat in a hurry, here comes Mallory!

Chomp, chomp, chomp!

Sorry, Mallory - all gone!

Heh heh. I'm not a sneaky goat, am I?

Burp!
erm, excuse me!

ANNOUNCEMENT:  THE PUBLICIST WAS TIRED YESTERDAY AND SHE HAD THE WRONG BLOG OPEN FOR ME TO TYPE ON AND THIS POSTED TO HER BLOG AND NOT MINE THIS MORNING.

SILLY PUBLICIST!
SHE IS VERY SORRY.

You know I am a goat who love my grain.
I get very happy when I get to eat it.
Mmmmm, grain.

But what is in my grain you ask?
Well, I am going to tell you.

But first I want to remind you that we goats cannot eat too much grain or we will get very sick. It is very good for us in some ways and obviously very bad for us too.

It is also a very important part of the diet of a pregnant doe like me and the other girls on the Farm. My grain supplies added protein, vitamins and minerals. This is especially necessary when I am nursing my kid and giving the publicist my rich milk.

My grain has barley, corn, oats, wheat, soybean meal, molasses, calcium carbonate, and lots and lots of other good stuff. It tastes really, really good!

I hope you liked learning about my nommy grain.
I like eating my nommy grain.

Tomorrow:  We dine!

Sunday Movies with The Happy Goats

It is Sunday so you know what that means.
Time for another exciting

SUNDAY MOVIES WITH THE HAPPY GOATS

Do you have your big bowl of tasty, crunch old weeds ready to go?
I hope so!
Here is a video starring my studmuffin.
You will get to see how tough he is.
How strong!
Enjoy!

I hope you liked seeing my studmuffin take on that big weed.
I like watching my Luke no matter what.
He is a cutie pie!

Tomorrow: Goatucation

My New Herd

You read that correctly. I have a new herd.
But don't worry! I am not leaving the Happy Goats Farm.
I would not do that. I love my studmuffin too much to leave.
And the publicist does take very good care of me.

But I am a professional goat.
A SpokesGoat. A blogging goat.
Sometimes I need a place to hang out with my blogging peers.
That is when I go to my other herd.
My herd at Tribal Blogs.

I am sure you noticed the cute little widget on my blog.
With the little stick figure on it? Just like this:

Tribal Blogs

That will take you to the Tribal Blogs Herd Community.

(Although I must admit I do fear that the little guy is going to hunt me.
Hunt me and eat me. Goats fear spears and the like.
But so far Jen, the brilliant creator of Tribal blogs has protected me.)

Tribal Blogs is a place for bloggers who actually care about their blogs.
Bloggers who write creative posts and update their blogs on a regular basis.
It's a place to go and hang out and munch some hay together.
To discuss ways to support each other and make our blogs better.

There is even a section for bucks where the does can't enter.
Which is probably good 'cause if you get too many bucks in one place it can get pretty smelly.
I have heard that the goat gas flies in that forum.

There are non-goat bloggers there too like JD from I Do Things and Daisy the Curly Cat and Cathy from The Junk Drawer and The Small Town Mommy and Emily's role model - Nanny Goats in Panties. Plus lots of other great blogs I'm getting to know.

(Actually it's mostly non-goat blogs I just try to make myself feel like I fit in with the humans and cats.)

I don't spend enough time in there right now because my kid is due any day.
But I hope to be there more in the future after the kid grows a bit.
It will also be better when the publicist gets her yurt built.
(She's a little cranky right now - don't tell her I said that.)

I want to thank Jen from Redhead Ranting for starting Tribal Blogs.
And for protecting me from the spear throwing tribesman.
I have fun when I am there.
So why not head over and check out my new herd.
If you blog come on! Join the herd Tribe!

AbbyDay - I Am Auditioning for a MAJOR ROLE!!!!!

I have such exciting news!
I, Abby the goat have been asked to audition for a major movie role!
That's right!
And you are reading it here first. I wanted to tell all of my loyal followers about it before it hit all of the big papers and magazines.

I have been asked to audition for the role of Anne Boleyngoat in the brand new production of the Six Goat Wives of Henrygoat the VIII!!!!

How exciting is that?!
Aren't you all very proud of me?

So before I went to the studio for my audition I decided to practice the big beheading scene. It is, of course, the most emotional scene in the whole movie. I want to make sure I am very good!

First I get myself in the mood

Then I approach the chopping block (are you nervous?)

Then I lay my head down very carefully

Or do you think this is better angle. I think it might show my spot to better advantage.

I really work on my expressions. I want to show I am a goat who can ACT!

I practice the final words of Anne Boleyngoat "...And thus I take my leave of the world and of you all, and I heartily desire you all to pray for maaaa."

Do you see my tears? It is important to be able to cry at any time for a role. I am a trained actressgoat!!

Well, how did I do?
Do you think I will get the job?
I know I will!
I am the best goat actress there is!

Tomorrow:  Pricilla will tell you about her new herd.
