Those Other Goats Think They Beet Me Out

Those other goats think they have something over on me.
They think that since I got my greens first that their beet greens will last longer.
They are not too smart, are they.

I don't really care about those does but doesn't my studmuffin look cute?
I could watch him eating greens all day long.
You can't have him - he's mine!

Of course AbbyGoat hogged had her share
She never misses a treat!

Louise is eating for two (or three?) so the publicist made sure she got her fair share.
A soon to be nanny goat needs her vitamins!

Poor little Bernadette.
She is low goat in the pen so the others pick on her.
She had to run and hide to get her greens
But the publicist made sure she had her very own pile.

Don't worry about Thelma the goat either. She had a nice big pile too.
The publicist just didn't get any good pictures of her.

I wonder what will come out of the garden next?

Alex Gets Beet

This is Alex's first summer on the Farm so of course he has never tasted beet greens.
He did not know what he had not had.

At first he was not sure about them.
He did not want to try them at first.
But he saw the rest of us eating them so he tried one.

Soon he realized that these things the publicist brought were pretty good!
He started eating them up.
You can see that she gave him a nice little pile all to himself.

And he ate every last one.
I don't think he'll ignore them again.

Beet the Heat

It is HOT.
Hot and SMOKEY.
I do not like this combination.
I am an old goat.

I like it a little bit cool with nice clear air.
I tried to maaaa this to the publicist but she told me there was nothing she could do about it.
Harumph!

She did bring us a treat though so this made up for it a little bit.
What did she bring?

One of my favorite summer time treats!
Beet greens!
You know how much I look forward to them every year.

Apparently the harvest was not that big this year so we did not get a lot of them.
But what we got was pretty tasty.

The publicist gave me my share first.
You can see that Louise the goat is acting a little put out behind me.
But I am a special goat so I should get mine first.
Do you not agree?

Do not worry Louise the goat got her share of beet greens.
I must say that I was a bit put out while she ate and I had none left.
It is how we goats are.
We want what the other goats have.

BRRRRAAAAAAAAP!
Oh, excuse me!
But they are quite good and I did gobble them down.

Don't forget to vote for Sherpa's photo!

AbbyDay - I Can't Maaaaa Now I'm Busy Eating

It's AbbyDay, the most important day of the week, month, YEAR!
Remember that!

I can't maaaa now.
I'm busy.
Busy nomming on tasty beet greens.

This is the best time of the year.
Garden time.
Just like AbbyDay, garden time is SUPER SPECIAL.
Why you ask?
Because we get to eat so many tasty treats from the male person's garden.

It started with turnip greens, then carrot greens and now beet greens.
It's the greeniest time of year!

I have introduced my kid Flash to beet greens and he likes them too.
Just goes to show how smart he is!

I am going to run now. I don't want the other goats to sneak my pile of greens while I maaaa to you. I'm sure you understand.
DON'T YOU?

I thought so.....

The Beet (Greens) Go On

The beets grow on, the beets grow on!
The greens we grind in rhythm to our cud.
La di la di dee, la di la di da

Turnip greens were once the rage, uh-huh
Summer has turned the page, uh-huh
Beet greens are now the thing, uh-huh
Chomping greens we eat like a king, un-huh

The beets grow on, the beets grow on!
The greens we grind in rhythm to our cud.
La di la di dee, la di la di da

The garden is our super mart, uh-huh
When it is gone it breaks our hearts, uh-huh
The male person marches off for beets, uh-huh
We love it when we get a treat, uh-huh

The beets grow on, the beets grow on!
The greens we grind in rhythm to our cud.

AbbyDay - I Ignore Pricilla's Post

It's AbbyDay!
The best day of the week.

I refuse to acknowledge Pricilla's post where she shows me looking crazed.
I am not crazed.
I was just a bit ..... annoyed and I'll leave it at that.

Today I am going to share one of my favorite treats with you - beet greens!

Yes, it is that time of year again.
The male person has harvested his beets.

I made sure think I got the best of the beets.
I mean, after all, I AM AbbyGoat!

Why shouldn't I get the best?

I really enjoyed eating them.
I didn't share.

It's not my way.
I am AbbyGoat!

I Put My Hoof Down!

The male person harvested the rest of the beets from his garden and you know how generous he is about sharing his beet greens.
Well, this time I put my hoof down and made sure he gave some to my studmuffin.
The last time he forgot to share the bounty with my little Luke and I didn't think that was fair.

My little love deserves to have a treat now and then too!
So this time he got to munch some yummy beet greens with the rest of us.

As you can see he really enjoyed himself.

We goats lose our dignity pretty quickly when it comes to eating things from the garden.

He is a handsome goat! Just look at those horns!
But you can't have him!
He's mine.

erm, sorry. I got a little off track there.
Luke was given a nice little pile of greens to eat.

The publicist couldn't help herself from taking a silly photo.

Silly publicist!
