AbbyDay - I Share Mallory's Story of Her Life Here at the Happy Goats Farm

It's AbbyDay and therefore it's the best day of the week.
Today I'm forced I'm delighted to tell you all about Mallory and her time here on the Farm.

She came to us in April of 2009 and we were glad to have a new goat on the Farm. In fact it was an AbbyDay when when she was introduced so I guess it's only fitting that it should be an AbbyDay when we say our final goodbyes.

She was a curious goat and sometimes, yes a bullygoat. But she did keep us on our hooves if not on our spools.

She brought very cute kids to the Farm including Matthew.

Marion - who is still here.

And of course little Kringle who went with her to the new Farm.

She and Kringle went off in the male person's truck to her new Farm and the male person said she looked very happy there. There is lots of land and other goats for her and Kringle to get to know.

Now there is more grain for me.
Bwahahaha!

Herd News!

I have some news about the herd.
Mallory and little Kringle will be leaving us.
We are sad of course, but happy that they have found a good home.

They will be going to their new Farm on Thursday.
It was a little sooner than the publicist expected and she will miss watching little Kringle grow up.
He is still trying to hop on his nanny.

This is such a cute stage with kids.
He even tries to hop on his sister, Marion.

It always makes her smile.

She will miss Mallory, even if Mallory was a bully goat now and then.
But she is happy that Mallory's new publicist wanted to take Kringle too.

She will get to live with lots of other goats on a great big Farm.
There were just too many goats on our little Farm.
I will have a proper send off for Mallory and Kringle on Thursday.

Christmas Tree-t Part III

Today I bring you the cutest photos of our Christmas tree-t.
Kringle, of course!
This was his very first taste of tree and he really enjoyed himself.

Of course he wasn't quite sure at first what that big green thing was.

But he watched his nanny and me munch on the tree and he soon learned that it was a tasty goat snack.

Mallory, being an older goat dug right in.

Marion took her time but ended up enjoying it very much.

Little Kringle seemed to like the trunk of the tree the best.

He spent most of his time munching the bottom.

Well, fiber is fiber, right?
When he was done munching he then went and had a nice drink of milk.

It's so tough being a kid!

Many of you were so nice to ask about my studmuffin and little Brewster. They did not get a tree but the publicist did cut them some branches from a tree on the lot so they did have some pine to eat.  Thank you for thinking of them.

Tomorrow the tale of the Christmas Tree-t finishes up with AbbyDay!

Mallory is a Very Proud Nanny.

I can't say that I blame her.
Little Kringle is a very cute little kid.

His markings are beautiful.

The publicist keeps cooing over how cute he is.
It is getting old.
I mean the rest of us are cute too!

I know, I know kids are cuter than old goats.
But really. Enough of the cooing.

I better not hear any cooing going on out there in cyberspace!

Mallory can coo or maaaa as the case may be.

She has every right to be proud.
SHE did all the hard work after all!

What Did The Publicist See....?

The publicist looked out her window and what did she see?
I will tell you!
Two goats in the neighbor's field!
That's what.

Mallory and Marion had somehow gotten out of the goat pen.
How did they do it?

Through a hole in the fence!
The chickens had made a wallow and they were going in the neighbors field and somehow Mallory managed to fit under too.

The publicist was NOT happy.
She yelled for Mallory and Marion to return.

Mallory skulked but did not come back.

They both looked further afield as if they were going to run away!
(Please, please, please! Mallory is a bullygoat!)
But they came back.

Be sure to come back tomorrow when I will announce little No-Name's new name and the winner of my rich soap!

Helping the Male Person, Again!

It is fire season here in Montana and the male person has been working hard to make the Farm FireSafe.
As part of that he cut down a little spruce tree that had been growing.
The publicist was upset because she liked the little spruce tree but she understood why it had to go. She did say that if it had to be cut down at least he could feed it to the goats because she knew how much we loved to eat tree.

It was a good opportunity for Mallory to introduce this yummy treat to Marion.

Mallory made sure Marion knew where the best nibbles could be found.

Mallory really enjoyed munching on the green, tasty needles. She made sure to tell the male person how much she liked them.

And Marion learned quickly!

She now loves tree as much as we big goats do!

Today is the last day to enter my giveaway for Kahve Koffee! Be sure to do so by 9 PM!

Marion is Starting to Go Off on Her Own

Aaaah, poor Mallory.
Little Marion is starting to show her independence!
While she still needs her nanny for some milk, she is starting to get more and more of her food from eating hay and weeds like the big goats.

She has started grazing on her own.

It's something we mamma goats need to deal with as our kids get bigger.
It's hard.
You want to keep them small forever.
But that doesn't work.

They want to go out and stretch their goat legs.
They want to leap and hop and explore.

So we let go, but we teach them everything we can.
Like how to find the tastiest bit of grass.

Mallory has done this with Marion and she is ready to go and graze by herself.
But she still comes back to her nanny.
Just as the twins come back to Abby.

Because there is still so much to learn.

Marion the Goat Debuts as a Movie Star

It had to to happen.
After all, we haven't had a Movie Day around here in a while.

Mallory had little Marion out for a bit and the publicist was taking some video. You can see how protective a nanny Mallory is  - she is even a bit of a stage nanny!

I am sure that Marion is destined to be a star!
She is a natural on camera.
Mallory just wanted to eat the camera.....

Tomorrow:  Wordless Wednesday

I am a Bit Embarrassed

I hate to admit this, but I must.
I really wanted to steal Mallory's new kid when the publicist brought it down to the pen today.
I am ashamed.
But I would make such a good nanny. And it is just not fair that I lost my kid.

So when little Marion came down I just had to try and lick her.
Mallory was not happy. She did not want to share.

I wasn't REALLY going to steal the baby. Much.
I just wanted to remember what it was like to have a kid near me.

But little Marion was right. She stayed by her nanny while Mallory and I had an, erm discussion.

I made my point

and Mallory made hers.

But we made up by the end of the day and everything was friendly.
Mallory knows I love her kid like it was mine.
erm.

Marion did get to enjoy wandering around and exploring the Farm a bit.

Which is a good thing for a kid.

Marion the Goat Sees the Sun

The publicist let Mallory and little Marion rest in the barn today.
Mallory was tired and was nervous with a brand new kid.
Little Marion wanted to just eat and sleep.

But the publicist wanted to get some better pictures of Marion so she brought her out in the sun for a little bit. She didn't bring her down to introduce her to us big goats yet. She knows how we are and little Marion is not ready to meet us yet.  She is also small enough to be carried away by a bald eagle and we wouldn't want that to happen!

Marion was happy to be out in the sun but Mallory was a bit nervous.

Especially when they heard a noise!

But it was only a chicken in the grass; nothing to worry about.
Mallory really loves her new kid. She licks and licks her.

Marion wanted to explore a bit, though - you know what kids are like!

She especially wanted to explore the publicist's camera.

That or she is ready for her close up!

There will be lots more photos of Marion the goat in the days to come. I think it will be very interesting when she meets her half-brothers Lew and Timmy. I hope you enjoyed seeing more of Marion the goat.

Please Welcome Marion the Goat

We had exciting times in the barn last night!
Mallory the goat had her kid!
And we were all in the barn to experience it.

Boy can that Mallory Maaaaaa!

But that is neither here nor there.
I would like you to meet the new kid on the Farm -
Marion the Goat!

That's right we have a new doe.
She is a big girl too!

She is all black but the publicist thinks some brown might come in around her eyes and face.

We are all very happy to have her here and we congratulate Mallory the goat and Luke the goat!
