Where is Luke the Goat Going in Such a Hurry?
You know that there is nothing I like better than staring and drooling over watching my studmuffin, Luke the goat.
So I was, as usual, looking over at the buck pen the other day and I saw him looking like a goat god on the spool. Oh, yeah. Buster Brown was there too.
Then, in quite the hurry, he jumped down.
Where was he going?
Where else!
Food!
If not trying to get to us does, it's food!
Men! No matter the species - women and food!

HAPPY LABOR DAY TO ALL OF YOU HUMANS IN THE US.
I hope you have a very relaxing day full of delicious food just like Luke the goat.

Dateline Mystery/Happy Goats Farm: What Happened to Our Hay?!
I was out for a graze and I came upon the hay storage area of the barn and I saw this
CAN YOU BELIEVE IT?!
Where is all of our yummy hay?
Our tasty treat?
Our sustenance?
Who could have stolen our food?!
Did the horses across the street come and eat it all?
Did my cousin the deer visit and have a big munch?
Why is it all gone?
Oh, woe is me!
I will have to put on my Inspector Goat Pricilla hat and figure out this mystery.
You would not want all of the Happy Goats to starve would you?
I would think not!
Then we would not be Happy Goats. We would be Hungry Goats.
It is not good to be a Hungry Goat.
I would rather be a Happy Goat.
Wouldn't you?
So stayed tuned to find out what happened to the Happy Goats' hay!

AbbyDay: Hey, HAY!
What is Abby watching?
What could it be?
It's a truck!
A truck full of HAY!
It's forus Abby!
The hay supply was getting low (THE HORROR!) so the male person had a very nice man bring some from Missoula.
BIG ROUND HAY.
We have never seen this before.
The male person and the nice man got it off of the truck.
THAT'S A LOT OF HAY!
Mmmmmm, hay.
You can put that in my pen, male person.
I'll take goooooood care of it!
I might even share it with the other goats.
Maybe....

What the Horses Saw
You will recall from yesterday that the horses across the street were very interested in the goings on around the Farm.
What do you suppose had them looking so intently?
Just look at their pretty horse faces - I think they want to escape and come visit!
Maybe this explains it...
That's right!
The male person went on a hay run!
Yum!
Hay!
He worked very hard piling by our barn. Isn't he just the best? We love the male person.
And this is only half of our hay. He is going to get more this weekend. We are the luckiest goats!
Speaking of us - Abby was watching the male person too.
So were Mallory and Matthew.
But where am I?
I was practicing my goat yoga.
What?!
A doe has to stay limber, doesn't she?
Namaste.
Tomorrow is AbbyDay

GOATUCATION - What Do You Prefer to Eat?
Welcome back for another exciting installment of Goatucation. Today's question comes from Statch at WannaBe in the Country. She wants to know what we goats here on the Happy Goats Farm prefer to eat. Well if I was to answer that honestly I would say GRAIN, GRAIN, GRAIN AND MORE GRAIN.

The boys like to graze over by the trees. Sometimes they like to butt the trees. But they are boys.

Hmmm, who is in the grain bucket?

But a goat can't live on grain alone so we do eat other things here on the Farm. You all know about our hay. We don't eat much of it in the summer but we practically live on it in the winter.
In the summer we have lots of tasty weeds and green grass to eat. I especially love the knapweed that grows around the Farm. Yum, yum. The male person is very happy when I eat it.

Jillian always goes for the tall green grass. I like that too, but I like the knapweed better.

Sometimes we sneak into the mulch pile and eat some of the interesting things that have been tossed in there. I often find cornstalks and the like. I don't know what Kevin found this day.
Since the chickens have moved into my pen we tend to eat the chicken feed that they spill. Chicken feed is, of course, GRAIN.
Hmmm, who is in the grain bucket?
At night we get our goat treat which more often than not is apple. I really like apple. Can you tell?
Later in the summer we will have other items for goat treat like leaves from the broccoli and cauliflower plants and beet greens. All of these things are quite yummy.
And I can't forget pine trees, we love pine trees and spruce trees too!
I guess we goats get a lot of good things to eat here on the Farm. I guess you could say we were spoiled goats.
Thanks for another great Goatucation question. Please keeping asking questions!!!! I love to answer them.

Goat Daydreams
Goats get that faraway look in their eyes just like you humans. Especially when we are chewing our cuds. I know you think the whole cud chewing thing is disgusting but when you have the digestive system we have and you eat the rough foods we eat well, accommodations have to be made. You try and deal with four stomachs! But enough about that. The real topic today is what exactly are goat's daydreams? I of course cannot answer for all goats but I can answer for this spokesgoat. I become Pricilla of the Jungle! That's right - I find myself in the midst of trees and branches and lots of good things to munch. Being a goat it is all about the food. I am sure many of you can appreciate that.
The light is mysterious and the trees cover me as I stalk my illusive prey.

First I get myself into a comfortable position and rub my head against the unsuspecting meal almost like an affectionate hello instead of the beginnings of an attack.
First I get myself into a comfortable position and rub my head against the unsuspecting meal almost like an affectionate hello instead of the beginnings of an attack.
Then I perfect my stance for the big uh, pounce (?). Given my pregnancy I cannot pounce so well any longer but this is a daydream after all.....
Then the pine needles are mine! All mine! Bwahahahahahaha!

They sure do taste good after a diet of hay. It is good to eat different things. I know I get my apples every night but a good munch of dried pine needles are just plain yummy. I have to thank the publicist for letting me roam a bit today and have my fantasy. And the pine needles.
I hope you liked this little trip into my daydreams.
