A Question Answered

As I am sure you are aware the Farm cats live a rough life around these parts.
I was asked how they sleep.
If they manage to find somewhere safe to bed down at night.

I will be honest...
They do not have a warm barn to go into every night like we goats do.
They do not have nice hay to rest on.

They are forced to sleep in horrible conditions!
It is deplorable.
Just look for yourself.

Poor Sherpa...

Look how uncomfortable Stinky is...

And Harry?

Harry has to sleep in the publicist's sweater drawer.

IN HER SWEATER DRAWER!
Can you imagine such a thing?
The horror.

Poor Pumpkin could not even be found. I think he was too depressed in his sleeping place.
The publicist mentioned something about the box with the sleeping bags.

Those poor, poor Farm cats.

The Chickens Have Their Day

It's only fair that I talk about the chickens of the Farm every now and then. After all they are part of what goes on around here. Of course it is the Happy Goats Farm but I can be a gracious goat and share the spotlight. You see a fair bit of Blue Guy because he always muscles in on whatever is going on but you don't see much of the Rhode Island Reds.

The roosters have grown quite big and are turning out to be rather good looking birds.

Although they are ALWAYS crowing. WHAT is up with that?

Oftentimes one will take a hen for a little snack and then they will dance the lambada.

They dance the lambada A LOT! I am thinking these chickens are a little erm, relentless.
But this is a family blog and that is all I am going to say. I know the publicist likes having the eggs to eat but she doesn't like being attacked by the roosters.

Would you like this to attack you?

Wait a minute! THAT's not a rooster! That's Stinky the Farm cat. She wouldn't hurt the publicist....silly Stinky. She must have snuck in the goat pen. THIS is the rooster.

I hope you enjoyed seeing how the chickens of the Farm have grown.

When Matthew met Stinky

It was bound to happen once the kids started going out for a graze. One of them was going to run into Stinky the cat. She usually lies in the dirt looking half dead. She isn't, she is just very relaxed.

Matthew approached slowly to give her a sniff.

Stinky sniffed back!

And there were no problems. They seemed to like each other and peace reigned on the Farm.

I was a little early in posting the link for Nanny Goats in Panties. So go check Emily's photos out - she looks very cute.

Tomorrow: Goatucation 'cause the publicist just can't keep my schedule straight.

When Harry Met Stinky - The Tale of a Small Goat and an Even Smaller Cat

Once upon a time on a Farm in a mystical land there was born a small little goat. And he was given the name of Harry.

Harry loved his life on the Farm. His days were simple and full of fun. He got to frolic with his Uncle Kevin.

Who taught him the joy of playing in the magic wood pile.

While no one was looking he climbed the mountain of Heavenly Hay thinking this would give him special goat powers, but it didn't. It only got him in trouble with the Farm Fairy.

He ate the secret sand that he believed gave him super leaping abilities. The other goats told him they were just minerals but he knew better.

He ate them and he felt like he could fly!

But then one day as he was wandering around his wonderful Farm he encountered a strange and unusual creature. He wondered what it was. It had no horns. It had no hooves.

It didn't smell right. In fact, the first time he gave it a good sniff IT RAN AWAY.

But that did not stop our intrepid goat, oh no! He had eaten the magic sand remember and he had super powers so he searched out the strange creature again.

It ran away at first but Harry followed it into the high grass.

It seemed friendly.
This time they gave each other some good sniffs.

Harry decided that this furry animal was no threat to him. His nanny Abby told him it was called a cat and that he should butt it. Harry did not think this was nice. He didn't think he should butt it just because it was different. He was going to try and make friend with the cat the next time he saw it. He hoped that day would come soon.

I hope you liked this story. Harry is a good little kid and he does leave the Farm cats alone unlike some of us who shall remain nameless. Tomorrow is AbbyDay and ANYTHING can happen on AbbyDay!

The publicist asked me to mention that she is having a GIVEAWAY on her blog.
It is for a poster print of a picture of your choice! You can read all about how to enter right

Kevin Befriends Stinky

It seems that Kevin has become friendly with Stinky the cat! Somehow when I wasn't watching the two of them played a little game of sniff me and now there is no more cat butting going on. Harumph! What good are cats if not to butt? I watched the other day as Stinky was lying in the sun. If you ask me she looked like she was dead...now there's a thought! Sometimes I am not a nice goat, not a nice goat at all. When it comes to cats I am like the male person.

Kevin snuck up to check her out

He gave several good sniffs. I wonder what a cat smells like? I have never taken the time to sniff myself . I just butt and run.

Stinky gave a little pat

Stinky just sat there. They sniffed each other again. It was all very calm and friendly! No claws, no scratching, no butting.

Then they stood up and seemed to just agree to be friends. It was rather cute. I am not sure I agree with this but Kevin is his own goat.

Finaly Stinky just walked off with Kevin following. Harumph! Kevin should have been the leader!

I don't know what the world is coming to. Goats and cats getting along. What have I taught that boy? Hmmmm......

The Cats Relax

As you know from the Intermews we have done there are three cats on the Farm, Fred, Stinky and Pumpkin. Now that the weather has turned nice they are spending more time outside. They love to roll around and if you ask me they look pretty funny.
I mean Fred looks like a pretzel in this photo - I think he is taking a cat bath but I am not sure. He also doesn't look too thrilled about being photographed, does he?

You really have to wonder what Stinky is trying to accomplish here - is she trying to scratch her back on the concrete?

And Pumpkin?
With all her crazy long fur you can hardly tell which end is which! I think she likes the feel of the cool green grass. I am all for some cool green grass!

Stinky rolls in the grass too!

Fred even likes to eat the grass - just like us goats!

I hope you enjoyed seeing the Farm cats in uhm, action?

Interview with Stinky the Cat

In the continuing series of interviews with the animals on the Happy Goats Farm I would like to introduce you to Stinky the Cat. She is one of three cats that live here on the Farm. I am not much of a cat goat but the publicist just loves cats like crazy. Our male person says she is a cat magnet. I am not sure he is happy about this. But anyway, meet Stinky!

Stinky, how did you come to live with our publicist?
Don't get to close to me Pricilla, I don't want you to butt me. You always butt me.

Now Stinky, I am acting as a spokesgoat here and I am on my best behavior. Would you please just answer my questions?
All right
as long as you promise not to butt me. I was just a little kitty living in a campground in New Jersey. My old owner had abandoned me. I don't know why; I am a very nice kitty. When our publicist found me my collar was so tight I could hardly breathe. I was so happy when she cut it off of me. It was a very cold night and there was snow everywhere. I was thrilled when I got to go into the warm trailer and eat good food.

Stinky is a rather, hmmmm, odoriferous name. Why are you called Stinky?
My original name was Threesa as in Three's a crowd because I was the third cat in the family but I am rather embarrassed to admit that at first -solely due to my bad diet while living in the wild -it was rather noticeable every time I used the litter box. This caused my name to be changed. I was not happy but I don't have control over these things. Now that I am eating regularly and eating really good food you never know when I have been in the box.

What do you do on the farm?
I loung
e around. I eat a lot. I chase mice. I try and avoid Mr. Eagle; I don't want to get taken for a ride like Fred. I sit in the publicist's lap and give her cat hugs.

How do you feel about me and the other goats on the farm?
Well, given that if I get too close to you I end up flying through the air I really don't think you want me to answer that question. The first time I met you I just wanted to sniff your nose and the next thing I knew I was airborne. Was this a nice thing to do to a small kitty cat?

I think we will end the interview now. I hope you enjoyed meeting Stinky the Cat and learning more about her.

Stinky wanted you to see her "fierce face" so I have included a picture of it for you. She used this face to scare the mice. Does it scare you?
