Silly Sunday - Barkin' Goat

There has been a lot of good bark to munch lately and we goats have been enjoying ourselves. I hope all you humans enjoy yourselves tomorrow on Memorial Day.

The First Graze of Spring

The sun actually came out for a little bit yesterday and the publicist let us out for a graze.
We hadn't been out for one in so long we forgot what to do!
But soon we found ourselves over by the big weed bush.

Abby and Nora used it to scratch their heads and rub their horns.

I used it to itch my head.
A good branch does wonders for an itchy head!

Then we had a bark eating fest.
Mmmmm, bark.
Sarah and I did some synchronized bark eating.

Do you see Pumpkin the Farm cat in the background? He was out enjoying the sun too.
Sarah really liked her piece of bark.

Nora was a big bark eater too.

She tried two different kinds.

Smart goat!
Even Abby chewed a bit of bark.

Fiber is good for growing kids!

Whew!
After all that activity we went back to our pen.
I was exhausted!

I lay down in the sun and took a nap.
Grazing is HARD work.

The Joy of the Wood Pile

I have talked of the wood pile here on the Farm several times before. We all like to explore it and munch on the bark. The bark is mighty tasty if you ask this old goat and it adds that extra something to our diet. I have to admit that our diet is quite varied right now due to all of the grass and weeds growing so we don't have much to complain about. It doesn't mean that we don't like to waddle over and have a taste of bark now and again. Kevin is especially enamoured of the wood pile. He loves to - all together now - hop on the pile and find the tastiest bits of bark to eat.

He is still a bit of a dainty eater, but that is OK.

The other day he was on the pile and Jillian and Mallory went over to join him

.
But I guess they wanted the pile to themselves because they started to butt him. They really like to butt the poor little kid. He is tough, though and he takes it just fine.

After Jillian and Mallory had their fill

Kevin just hopped right back up and had some more.

Even Abby manages to amble over and eat some bark. Although she currently isn't climbing the pile right now. She is to, uhm, plump. That's a good word. Plump.

The bucks like the wood pile too so you can see it is an equal opportunity feeding place!
