We were all out having a nice, peaceful graze when we heard some very upset maaaaaing from a small little goat.
It was Buster Brown!
Why was he maaaaing like that?
Because the little kid had gotten himself in the chicken tractor!
Silly Buster Brown!
His nanny went over but she figured he had to learn to get himself out.
He ran back and forth and forth and back but still did not figure it out.
I don't think that rooster is going to be of any help.
I think he is probably a bit upset that Buster Brown is in his tractor!
Eventually Buster wriggled under the tractor and was free!
I don't think he will do that again.

Is Harry Lost? Or Searching for Something?
The publicist looked out her window and saw something very unexpected. She saw a little cowgoat in the chicken tractor. But not just in the chicken tractor; up in the roosting part of the chicken HOUSE!
Here is a close up view. Silly Harry! What could he be doing up there?
Oh, but wait! Maybe he is smarter than we think! After the big break in by Jillian the male person moved the chicken's grain up to the roost! I'll bet that was what Harry was after!
The publicist yelled at him to come out because as you know too much grain is not good for a goat. He peaked out again and thought about it.
He came down but he WENT BACK UP AGAIN! Baaaaad Harry!
He finally listened to the publicist and came down the steps. He looks like he is going to come out now. What do you think?
Yes! He did come out. Hooray!
He is the only goat here that can fit in that tiny doorway. But soon he will also be too big to get in there and the chicken's grain will be safe.
Tomorrow: The big bucks feast.

Chicken TAXI?
You will recall that we have a chicken tractor in our goat pen. You will recall that I was not happy about this. I think perhaps that Jillian and Mallory are even less thrilled than I at the moment. Unless they are charging the chickens for this service.....

Are Jillian and Mallory running a chicken TAXI service? Is that why there are chickens on their backs?
Are they charging the chickens grain for this service?
Hmmm, I wonder.
I would not sink so low. I have my dignity. I would not walk around with a chicken flapping its wings on my back.
I think that chicken looks just a bit too comfortable up there. What do you think?
I think they are spending too much time with the chickens. Perhaps they are like little Kevin and they are not sure if they are chickens or goats!
I think Jillian and Mallory are silly goats. Harumph!

Animal Identification
As you all know we have a variety of animals here on the Happy Goats Farm. I thought today it might be useful to help you identify the various creatures and where they live. As you know the chickens moved on to the Farm recently and INTO MY GOAT PEN. I was not happy about this at first but I am OK with it now since I can sneak some of their grain now and then.

So onto our first identification; this is a Rhode Island Red chicken
This is our Blue Andalusian Chicken
This is their chicken tractor
The other main animals on the Farm are, of course, goats. I am all in favor of goats. I think they are about the best animals around but that is beside the point.
This is a small white goat. Known as Kevin
This is a goat house. You will recall that Jillian and Mallory spent some time on top of the goat house. This is NOT recommended.
The best use for the goat house is to get out of the sun or the rain. Here is Abby is relaxing inside getting out of the heat of the day.
Now, what is wrong with this picture?
Yes, your eyes are not deceiving you! There is a small white goat IN THE CHICKEN TRACTOR!
Has Kevin gotten confused as to what kind of animal he is? Or is it the chicken feed? Which is grain. Grain, which is crack to goats. What do you think?
The male person came out and uhm, encouraged Kevin out of the chicken tractor.
What a silly, silly goat! If he eats too much grain he will get sick. And besides, he doesn't have feathers! The male person made some adjustments to the chicken tractor and now small white goats cannot get into it any longer. Silly, silly goat!

Exploring the Chicken Tractor
Now yesterday I reported to you the shocking fact of the appearance of the chicken tractor in my goat pen. Today I am going to show you how we all reacted to this unbelievable event.

Jillian and Mallory are the first goats down to the goat pen. Abigail, Kevin and I stay back a bit. I have to be milked. They were very surprised to see this strange thing in the pen.
Jillian approached cautiously
Then they both explored the goat house and sniffed at the chickens. I think they might have sneezed.
After my milking I saw the odd building in my pen and went over to investigate. I mean really! What was the male person thinking?
Abigail spent quite a bit of time checking it out. She gave it a couple of good butts just for good measure. But then again, Abigail would....
So far we have been lucky and Kevin has not hopped onto it yet. I think this is a good thing as he might fall right through and end up in with the chickens. I suspect they might peck him! What do you think?
Since I don't have a photo of Kevin inspecting the chicken tractor I will leave you with a random photo of Kevin just because he is so cute.

Whole New World
The chickens have moved out of the basement. The publicist is happy about this but I am not happy about this AT ALL. The chicken tractor is IN MY GOAT PEN.
MY GOAT PEN!
Can you imagine such a thing? Harumph! Now I have to admit that the male person did a very nice job in building the chicken tractor. The roof even matches the roof of my barn. Here he is putting some finishing touches on it:

It took some thinking for the publicist and the male person to figure out how to get the chickens from the basement to the tractor. They had about destroyed their brooder.

Then the publicist thought of the cat carriers! This worked very well. They could carry three chickens at a time this way and she had three carriers so it didn't take too long. The hardest part for her was catching the chickens. She is very glad that no one was taking video of her because she feels that SHE looked like a chicken chasing them around!
Here are the first three in the top part of the tractor:

After a bit half of the chickens were in the top part

and half were in the bottom:

It is a very nice place for the chickens to live; inside the top part there are rows of roosts for the chickens to use at night.

There is even a cute little ramp for them to walk on to go in and out of the top part.

They seemed happy today but the publicist did have to "help" some of the chickens out into the warm sunshine. She figures that in time they will understand that they should come out during the day and go back in at night. In fact the male person had to help them in to the top part last night. Silly birds!
Tomorrow you will see how we all reacted to the presence of the chicken tractor in our pen.
I want to offer my congratulations to Rabbit Hill Farm. They have won the sample sized soap for winning the "What's That Smell" game from yesterday. The publicist really chuckled at Buck Muck. Heh heh. That is a funny name.
