Waffles Gone Wild and Other Stories from Atlanta

I have a secret report from the publicist!
She sent it up from her vacation in Atlanta.
She said she could not keep it to herself.

As you know she went to the Cat Writer's Association/BarkWorld conference in Atlanta and while she was there she went to a special party for our friend Waffles - he's very famous now. But his fame must be going to his head because at his party he went all Wild and Crazy cat even though he was surrounded by paparazzi. Look:

Can you believe your eyes?
A Famous SpokesCat climbing the curtains in his hotel room!
What a shock!

Glogirly caught up to him and told him to calm down and behave like a good cat and not a rock and roll cat. He was a very good boy for the rest of the night.

In fact, there were some who said they had him eating out of their hands.
Ah-hem.

Hey! I think that's the publicist's hand.
Is she cheating on us with Waffles?
How could she do that?

Harumph!
There was another star at the party.

Plush CK came down from New Jersey for a visit.
She made the rounds and meowed with the guests.

Here she is with the lady with the yellow hair from The Island Cats. Then it went downhill. There is some thought that she might have had to much of Waffles' cocktail. Who knows. I just know that the photo isn't pretty.

What some plush cats will do for attention!
Oh my!
I can't let that be the last sight you see today so I will close with this very nice picture from the weekend.

It is my aunt Nora! With Waffles!
It was taken by Lisa from A Tonk's Tail.
Isn't it a beautiful picture?

Here's for Waffles and for the ALS #IceBucketChallenge My Way

I am just a goat.
An old goat at that.
My friend Waffles from Glogirly challenged me to the Ice Bucket Challenge in support of ALS.

This has been going around the internet for a while now.
ALS is also known as Lou Gehrig's disease because the famous baseball player had it.
It is a very insidious disease that attacks human's nerve cells and leads to their death.

As far as know it is not something we goats get.
But that does not mean that we cannot help support the cause.
I urge you humans who don't know about it to learn more at the ALS Association website.
I have made a donation from my apple money because even though it does not impact goats I think it is an important cause.

Now, as to this ICE BUCKET challenge.
Goats DO NOT like water.
AT ALL.
The publicist has told you stories of how we MAAAAA loudly to go into the barn any time it rains.
So given this there was no way I was going to have water dumped over my head.
Not to mention the fact that I think it might just give me a goat heart attack!

So I did the challenge in my own special way.....
I hope Waffles approves.

If you cannot see the movie you can watch it on YouTube HERE

Now I hope that you all take the time to goatumacate yourselves about ALS and if you have a few extra green papers make a donation.

There is also Sparkle's Memorial Service tomorrow on her blog. There will be a commentathon for Tabby's Place in her honor. The publicist made a donation in Sparkle's honor from all of us here on the Farm. Please be sure to stop by and leave a comment and make a donation if you can.

I know I am asking for a lot of your monies today but these are both good causes.

Catastic Event, Day 7: A Day in the Life of Waffles

Today I am very happy to welcome our good friend Waffles to the blog with a very special guest post about his important work at a Therapy Cat! He goes and visits people to make them feel better. He and Katie also share their adventures in the Townhouse on their blog, Glogirly.  To thank Waffles for sharing his story today the publicist is making a donation to Feline Rescue.

Hi everybuddy, Waffles here.

I was REALLY excited when Pricilla invited me over to her blog! She'a a real live GOAT, you know. Me and the Boss, well we live in the city, so I've never seen a real live goat before. I asked Pricilla what she wanted me to talk about. You know, like should I tell jokes and stuff or maybe teach her how to open up the kitchen cupboards to get the Cheetos out.

But Pricilla said she wants to know what it's like to be famous therapy cat in-training and travel the country spreading Waffly love.

Therapy Cat In-Training

Lots of my friends know that I've been training to become a Therapy Cat. I still have a few more visits to go on before I become official. I'm working with an organization called Love on a Leash. They have an awesome new website with lots of helpful tips on becoming a therapy pet.

We're a Therapy TEAM
Before we even KNEW about therapy cats and Love on a Leash, Glogirly and I became friends with Spaghetti Bob. We met on Facebook and soon learned he's an honest to goodness purrfessional therapy cat, living right here in Minneapolis. His human has been over to the Townhouse to help train me AND Glogirly.

The most important part of learning how to be a therapy cat is teamwork. In fact, we call ourselves a Therapy TEAM. My job is to make people happy and share my handsomeness and Glogirly's job is to make sure I'm comfortable and safe. There's lots of stuff going on when we're on a visit. Lots of new people, new smells, new sounds. Having Glogirly there makes me feel safe.

We're usually at the nursing home for about an hour. Sometimes I'll go into a resident's room and sometimes I'll ride in my Waffle Wagon through the hallways and lounge areas meeting people along the way. Glogirly keeps close watch over me and always knows when it's time to go home.

How Do You Know if YOU Might Be a Good Therapy Cat?
1. Friendly and outgoing personality
2. Enjoys people
3. Not easily scared by strange and loud noises
4. At least 1 year-old (...but it's never too early to socialize with new people & places)

The World Needs More Therapy Cats
Compared to therapy dogs, there are very few therapy cats. Spaghetti Bob is always on the lookout for new therapy cat teams. It breaks our hearts to think of some of the people in nursing homes that can no longer have their cat by their side. And if we can make a difference for even just one person, that's a difference that really matters.

Celebrity Conference Cat
One of the fringy benefits of being a therapy cat in-training is the training! And part of my training was to attend the BlogPaws Pet Blogging and Social Media Conference in Las Vegas. It was my very first time on an airplane and I had more luggage than even GLOGIRLY!

And did you know that Pricilla's Publicist was my roommate??? I even crawled under the covers with her. Yeah, everyone at the conference was SUPER jealous. Glogirly says I was the talk of the conference.

And the pawparazzi was everywhere.

See you on the road, everybuddy!

Wasn't that a great story? The publicist said she had great fun rooming with Waffles at BlogPaws. She said he was a very friendly boy.

If you didn't comment on yesterday's post please do - the publicist will keep counting comments through the end of the Catastic Event!

Be sure to visit the publicist's blog today to learn all about Precious Cat Litter and enter the giveaway.

The Publicist Slept with WHAT?

I have heard rumors.
Baaaaaaad rumors.
About the publicist.
You know she left us and went to BlogPaws but I did not maaaa to you where it was.

IT WAS IN LAS VEGAS!
And you know what they say about that place - "What happens in Vegas STAYS in Vegas."
But I am going to ignore that and maaaaa to you exactly what happened in Vegas.

The Farm cats are especially unhappy.
Do you know why?

THE PUBLICIST SLEPT WITH ANOTHER CAT!
It's true.
I would not lie.

What cat you ask?
WAFFLES the cat.
He is on her bed here....

SEE!
He does not care that the Farm cats might be jealous.
He does not care that he is in the publicist's spot!

HE DOES NOT CARE!
He even tried to take over the publicist's drawer.

He didn't want her clothes in there.
He wanted it to be a Waffles bed.

I don't understand cats.
Or humans for that matter.
The publicist thought this was FUNNY.

But after all of this the publicist tried to pack Waffles AND BRING HIM HOME TO THE FARM!
Can you imagine?
We do not need 6 Farm cats.

Although he is kind of cute.
Especially when he is in his WaffleWagon.

The publicist had a lot of fun at BlogPaws and she brought home some great stuff for the Farm Cats. They will tell you all about it later in the week. She brought NOTHING home for me. Harumph!

She did tell me some great news - our very good friend Glogirly won TWO Nose to Nose Awards! Two of them - one for Best Cat Blog and one for Best Design. All of us here congratulate her and know that she deserved them both 'cause she is a brilliant blog designer.

AbbyDay - Welcome to Our New Look

It's AbbyDay - the best day of the week written by the best goat in the world.

I am sure you noticed when you stopped by today that the blog has a new look.
I am completely disgusted that I do not appear in the header so happy to introduce our new design to you!
The publicist and Pricilla without ANY input from ME worked with the very talented Glogirly Design to make this exciting change. Blog MAGIC is very true. The publicist says that Debbie is an absolute delight to work with and she is full of great ideas and talent.

You can see Pricilla and little Bernadette peaking in the windows with cartoons of Sherpa and Harry the Farm cats. Since the Farm cats are a BIG part of the blog and the Farm they thought they should be part of the design.

OK - that's it.
I have been nice for long enough - WHAT ABOUT ABBYGOAT?
AM I NOT A BIG PART OF THIS BLOG?

Not THAT big! It's a bad camera angle!

Do I not have a WHOLE DAY?
ABBYDAY?!

Why am I not up there?
I am going to protest to the publicist.

Until I get things changed around here you should enjoy our new look.
I maaa so.
Even though the most beautiful goat on the Farm is not there it is still very nice.

If you need a new design on your blog or on your twitter or facebook or for business cards or anything Glogirly is your erm, girl!

Glogirly Blog Header

And after you check out her really cool blog designs (she also did the publicist's blog!) be sure to visit Katie and Waffles on their blog, Glogirly.com. They are very funny cats. For cats.

Farm Cat Friday - Harry and Sherpa Chillax Thanks to Katie and Waffles

Harry and Sherpa have a new place to sleep.
NO! Not at another Farm sillies!
They won a Peach Industries Kitty Lounger from Katie and Waffles at Glogirly.com!
They are very excited!

In truth, it's really Harry who rules the lounger - he just lets Sherpa "borrow" it now and again. Mostly when Harry is out eating mousie brains.

I'll let him meow you all about it.
Take it away Harry!

Whaaaaa?
You maaaain' at me?

WHAT?!
I have an audience!?!

Let me stretch a minute and I'll get to it.
Sheesh! Let a cat wake up.
OK - first off I would like to meow my thanks to Katie and Waffles. I LOVE my new lounger. It is THE BEST. The publicist has stuff all over the yurt for us kitties and I never slept on anything. It drove her crazy! All part of my devious plan of course. But the minute she set up this lounger it was MINE, ALL MINE!

It is so very comfortable. Just the right size for me.

I can even do my cat yoga on it if I want.
Do I not look blissful?

I even brought my favorite toy up on it so I could play and lounge at the same time.
~KITTIES - do not try this unless you are experienced. It is TRICKY!~

Then I napped.
I love napping.
(You are not the only one Spitty!)

It is true that I sometimes let my brother Sherpa use my lounger when I am not around.
I am a nice brother.
I can share.

The publicist said I even had to let Stinky and Pumpkin have a try too but erm, no comment. I did let Sherpa on MY lounger at the same time I was on my lounger.
For the publicist.

OK.
I think we did our bit.
Right?

Can he go now?
Please?
Srsly.

I really, really, really like my lounger. As you can tell it's very strong. It can hold the both of us. I weigh 8lbs and Sherpa weighs 12lbs and I'm sure it could hold more. The fabric cover can go in the wash to get rid of all of that obnoxious orange fur be cleaned.  The publicist likes it because it's eco-friendly and she really likes the pretty colors. It goes with the yurt. The loungers are also available in other colors. You can see them all HERE.

The lounger came in a really cool burlap bag.
IT'S HUGE!

It is very useful for carrying things around.
Like books....or Sherpas.
Bwameowhahahahaha!

I thank Katie, Waffles, Glogirly and Peach Industries for giving me such a comfortable and stylish place to sleep. (You do know that Glogirly did the redesign on the publicist's blog. She does EXCELLENT work. Check her out at Glogirly Design)

Now if they could only do something about Sherpa.....

Our Friend Katie is ACCUSED!

You will recall our friend Katie.
She is the kitty cat that lives with Glogirly and has a delightful blog by that same name.
Well it seems she needs our help!

Katie is ACCUSED!
It's true!
She has been accused of the most awful crime.
She has also been entered into and become a finalist in the Friskies Presents the Best Cat Video Contest to with a Friskie!

This is very exciting.
I now know TWO famous cats - Katie and Sparkle.
I am a lucky goat!

I am asking you to go and VOTE for Katie's video so Katie can win. She will win a spiffy statue and maybe lots and lots of monies. What's even better for every vote, like or share of a video Friskies is donating  5 cans of Friskies® to one of 25 cat charity partners across the nation, up to 250,000 cans! How cool is that?

You can only vote once per person/per email address so make your vote count and vote for Katie!

So, who did chew on the laces?

Meet My Friends Monday - Katie and Glogirly

It is Monday and time to meet more of my friends!
This Monday is also full of award announcements too!

But first I would love for you to meet Katie a very lovely tuxedo kitty and her human, Glogirly!

Katie and Glogirly just got back from BlogPaws where Katie received a very stylish new wardrobe. She is an excellent modelcat.

Much better than I would be (not that I am a cat, heh). I do not wear clothes. I have my limits. Pearls is as far as I go. But Katie rocks her catfits.

Katie (as well as a LOT of my friends - I will tell you about them at the end of this post) has been nominated for a Pettie Award for Best Blog Post. I have been voting for my friends and as you can see I have a widget on my blog to make it easy for you to vote too! You can log in with your facebook account or with email. The winners get to make a donation to a shelter so it is a very good cause. As Sherpa the Farm cat will maaaa to you NO cat wants to live in a shelter!

But back to Katie and her adventures with Glogirly - they have created the very entertaining Real Housecats of the Blogosphere movies and I am sure that you will all love them. So go over and maaaaa "hi" to Katie and Glogirly on their blog. I'm sure you will be entertained.

Katie and Glogirly even gave ME an award! Isn't that nice?! They gave me the One Lovely Blog Award. I'm sure they made that choice on a day that WASN'T AbbyDay. Bwamaaahahaha. I thank them very much for recognizing me.

As for the Petties - so many of my friends are nominated! It's very exciting!

Sparkle is nominated for Best Blog Post
Daisy the Curly Cat is nominated for Funniest Blog
Your Daily Cute is nominated for Funniest Blog

I am very excited for ALL of my friends. I am asking you all if you have a few minutes to vote so that a very deserving shelter can get some monies to help kitties like Sherpa the Farm cat find a good home.

I hope you enjoyed meeting another one of my friends and learning the exciting news about the Petties!
