Kiducation - Learning to Interact with Other Species

Before I start today's Kiducation post I want to wish all of you humans out there a very

HAPPY MEMORIAL DAY

I hope you all have a lovely day.

As you know we have other animals here on the Farm.
There are the chickens.
Then there are the Farm cats.
Little Timmy and little Lew had a big day when they came out of the barn for the first time.
While wandering around Timmy discovered a very strange creature lying on the ground.
He went over to investigate.

He gave it a good looksee
I think he decided he didn't like what he saw!

Maaaaaaaamaaa!
Oh well. Maybe the next time they meet Timmy will be bigger than Stinky and feel a little safer.
Silly Timmy!
Stinky didn't even get up off the ground!

Kids have so much to learn.
It's good we older goats are here to teach them.

Timmy Explores the Goat Pen

The rain continued today but it wasn't as bad; more like a light drizzle.
The publicist let us out of our pens in the barn and erm, convinced us it might be a good idea to go down to the outside goat pens.

We took some convincing but we finally went outside.

The publicist felt badly for poor Abby being stuck in the barn with the kids so later in the afternoon when the rain stopped completely for a while (ten minutes to be exact) she brought the twins down to meet the herd.

This did not go well.
There is no photographic evidence as the publicist was too busy trying to keep Matthew and Mallory from killing the twins.
Sarah and Norah just ran away.

Then she put all of us big goats out for a graze while yelling some words I cannot use on a family blog at Matthew and Mallory.

The twins are fine.
In fact little Timmy is quite the intrepid explorer.
And I think he is going to be a hopper like his Uncle Kevin.

Even though he is only 3 days old here just watch his form!

He checks his "hurdle."

He runs

He hops!

Uh-oh!
SPLAT!

His little goat legs still have some strengthening to do.
Silly Timmy!
But he will learn.

Be sure to enter the giveaway for my rich soap if you haven't already!

Rain, Rain Go Away and a Giveaway

Rain, rain go away
The little kids want to play

Rain, rain go away
Moldy goats are tired of hay

Rain, rain go away
Some sun we want to see today

Rain, rain go away
Lew and Timmy are sick and tired of being stuck in the barn with the big goats all day!

Do I sound like a peeved goat?
Well, I am a touch peeved.
Can you tell it's been raining?
We goats DO NOT like rain.
Why you ask?  IT'S WET!

So to keep myself occupied to decided to use my new hobby on the kids.  I did this lovely
interpretation of cute little Timmy

and this pencil drawing of Lew

But in spite of the rain I have exciting news for YOU!
That's right!
I am in SpokesGoat mode right now.
I have an announcement! A BIG announcement.
Are you ready?

A Happy Goats Video Extra!

Yes, that is right!
I have a movie for you.
On Friday!
Are you amazed?

It is of the twins but I am sure you knew that!
It is a little long but the publicist is a bit besotted with them.

We big goats have not met them yet. She thinks they are too little to come out and play with us yet. Maybe over the weekend. I hope so. I really want to lick play with them.

Since I lost my baby I really am happy that there are babies to play with.

I hope you liked the movie.
I keep watching it!

Meet the Twins!

As you can imagine it was an exciting day around here yesterday.
I think those of us waiting had more fun than Abby but that is the way of kids.
So without further ado, I present to you my grandkids, Timmy and Lew!

As you can see Timmy looks rather like Luke.

And Lew looks like Abby.

Isn't that funny?
They are very cute and very small. One tends to forget just how small little goatlings are.
It's nice to have twins on the Farm. It will be fun to watch them playing together.

They came out of the barn for a little while today.

I think they liked exploring. I am sure the world looks mighty big to them!

I am not sure, but Timmy might have blue eyes. That would be interesting.

Even if they are not blue, he is a cutie pie!

Lew has just the lightest sprinkling of fairy dust on his ears.

I am not the least bit prejudiced about my grandkids.
Oh, no!

Abby is a good nanny. When the rooster crowed she went right to attention to make sure nothing hurt her kids!

Then little Lew settled in for a drink of nice, rich milk.

There will be lots of photos over the next few days.
Of course!
And a bit of video tomorrow.
These kids are destined to be STARS!

Welcome to the Farm Timmy and Lew!
Welcome to the Farm.

My New Hobby

As you all know I am retired from being a milking goat.
I am not retired from being a SpokesGoat!
I will be a SpokesGoat forever. I love that job.

But I do find myself with some free time now so I have decided to take up a hobby.
Every goat needs a hobby, don't you think?
I have decided to take up painting!

I can be Pricilla van Gogh!
Here is a self portrait in the impressionist style. What do you think?

I like how I have kept the me part photographic. Do you?

Here is the same scene done in the modern style.

Then I decided to use Abby as a subject.
Here she is as a oil painting.

I like the bright green background.

Then I decided to get moodier.
I did a an illustration style of Mallory in the barn.

After that I decided to have some fun. I took a photo of young Harry the cowgoat. You remember him, right?
I added some leaves to his face.

Isn't it funny? I sure think so.
I have to say thank you to the publicist for giving me some new software to play with. It's called Corel Paint It!

There are so many more things I can do and lots more effects. Trust me, I will be playing a lot now that I have all this free time.

The publicist will be playing with it on her blog too.
And even better yet she will be giving it away on her blog tomorrow.

That way one of you can have fun like me!

Tomorrow:  Wordless Wednesday

Disclosure:  The publicist received free Corel Paint It! so I could play with it. Well maybe not just for me but still she did get it for free so I wanted to make sure I told you all that. It didn't change the fact that I had a lot of fun painting my pictures in my new free time from being a retired goat.

Chickucation - The New Chicks are Growing!

Since Abby does not seem to want to give birth I am going to Chickucate you today about the new little chicks that are still living in the publicist's basement.

Boy are those little birdies growing!

It must be all the chick starter they are eating. Chick starter is a special food that the baby chicks get until they are ready to start laying. It has all the vitamins, amino acids and minerals they need.

Then they move to a layer mix which has calcium in it to help the shells on their eggs form.

They are very cute and their wing feathers are starting to come in. In fact the publicist found two of them roaming around OUTSIDE of their brooder!

Silly chicks!

It is good they are growing so big and strong.
The publicist apologizes for the photos - the little chicks are constantly in motion and very hard to photograph.

Sunday Movies with The Happy Goats

It's that time again so get yourself a bowl of your favorite snack.
If it were me it would be apples and grain but you humans are weird in what you eat.

It's time for

SUNDAY MOVIES WITH THE HAPPY GOATS

I have to admit I am not happy about this movie.
The publicist is making me post it to the blog.
Harumph!
I don't think it shows me in a good light.
Especially after that rotten Luke defected to Sarah the goat.

There you have it!
Can you believe that Matthew thinking HE is a buck?!
Silly Matthew!
I only wanted to talk to my studmuffin and look how he treated me.

Tomorrow:  Either new kids (keep your hooves crossed) or Chickucation

Saturday, May 22, 2010

Oh Luke! Why? Why?

Luke has broken my heart!
I thought he was MY studmuffin!
I thought he loved me and only me.

I was so wrong.
Turns out he will dance with any goat that comes along.
Including a doe he has JUST MET!

Look!

He was dancing the samba with my kid, Sarah!

And she just came back the Farm a week or so ago. Look at her face! I think she is smiling!

How could he do this to me?
I mean, Abby has been here since before Luke arrived so I understood that.
But THIS?!

I am hurt.

I don't think I want to see him for a while.
It's good I am a retired goat now.

Pay no attention to tomorrow's very embarrassing movie that the publicist insists upon showing you.

AbbyDay - I Will Be Taking Some Time Off Now

It's AbbyDay and you all know how much I like AbbyDay.
But I have some sad news.
Well, necessary news anyway.
Today is my last AbbyDay for a while. At least until I have my kid.
So I will show you what I love the most - ME!

Doing what I love best.

Eating!

I went quite a ways up the road here.

I think I made the publicist nervous.
But the new green grass is just so good!

I also love the tall dried grasses as well.
I really enjoy eating.
Mmmm, food.

But at least I look like this for a good reason!

I really can't fit through the trailer door any longer.
THAT is the real reason I am taking some time off.
Pfffft!

What is Going On?

We are very confused here on the Farm.
Especially the publicist and the male person.
We have the two Rhode Island Red roosters and until now they have gotten along just fine.
And now for the last two days this has been going on

Can anyone tell the publicist why they would be fighting like this after living peaceably together for the last 8 months?

She is happy they are not attacking her but she does not want them attacking each other!

Crazy roosters!

Tomorrow: It's AbbyDay

Interview with Nora the Goat

Since I interviewed my kid Sarah it is only fair that I also interview Nora the goat too. She is my grandkid after all.

So Nora, are you happy to be back on the Farm?

Yes I am. I was happy to see my nanny again. I was only a very little kid when I left the Farm. I was born here just like Sarah. Michael the goat was my daddygoat.

You were a very cute kid. Now that you are older you look a lot like your nanny. What do you think of that?

I think it's pretty cool. I know that publicist lady has trouble telling us apart at a distance. But my fur is a bit thicker and I do have more white spots than my nanny.

Do you know how you got your name?

Yes! I was named for the publicist lady's best friend. She said that she didn't have any children so the least she could do was name a goat after her.  I don't know if her friend was happy or not. But I am a pretty goat so she should be a proud goat aunt.

Did you like it at your old Farm?

Oh, it was so very nice! The people treated us like queengoats! We had lots of room to roam and so much yummy green grass to eat. In the winter there was tasty hay. I was sad to leave them because they gave me pats on the head and a good home but if I had to go anywhere coming back home was the best place for me!

Were you happy to see your nanny again?

I was, but it took me a little while to recognize her. It has been two years you know! It was a little confusing meeting everyone all at once. But I did like meeting Luke the goat - he's cute.

Ah-hem! Luke the goat is MY studmuffin! When did you meet Luke?!

That publicist lady took me over to meet him but I was still too nervous and our samba didn't go too well.

HARUMPH! I think I will end this interview now.
I may go and have a word or two with Luke.

I hope you enjoyed learning about Nora the goat.
I think I learned a bit too much!

Tomorrow:  Wordless Wednesday

Goatucation: How to Give a Goat a Treat

I think it is very important for everyone to know how to give a goat a treat.
This way you will all be prepared if you come to visit me.
(Erm, be sure to BRING treats so I can be sure I taught you correctly.)

I will use myself as an example.
I like apples.
Mmmm, apples.

And carrots.

And carrot tops.

And corn husks.

And beet greans.

But I am NOT a piggie goat.
That is a lie spread by Abby.

Any you don't have to bring ALL of those things. One or two is fine. I am not greedy.
Much.

I thought you should be goatucated though.
On what I love to eat.
Just in case.

Tomorrow:  Interview with Nora the goat

Sunday Movies with the Happy Goats

I am sure you are most anxious for a movie since I did not give you one last week!

So break out your favorite snack and get comfortable because it's time for:

SUNDAY MOVIES WITH THE HAPPY GOATS
Hooray for movies!

This one is very exciting because it stars my studmuffin.
But sadly he is more interested in another doe than me!

The drama! The romance! I hope you liked it....
I was of course crushed that my studmuffin was making plans for a date with my kid, Sarah but I guess that is life on a Farm with one buck.

I know he loves me.
I KNOW he does.

Tomorrow:  Goatucation

Interview with Sarah the Goat

Since we have two new goats on the Farm I thought they deseved an interview just like all the other animals have had so even though Sarah the goat is my kid I'm going to ask her some questions for you.

So Sarah, you were born here on the Farm weren't you?

That's right Maaaaa. I was your first kid here on the Farm with my twin Michael the goat. I had lots of fun playing with him and with my sister Abby the goat.

You were a very cute kid, if I do say so. But I guess I am prejudiced as I am your nanny.

That's OK. All nannies feel that way about their kids.

Some people think that Luke the goat is your daddy but that's not true. Who's your daddy?

My daddy is Titus the goat from your old Farm. Sadly, I have never met him. From what you have told me he was a very nice buck.  He is also Abby's daddy.

I understand that you are somewhat of a famous goat coat model. What do you think of this?

I think I made a great goat coat model. I was born when it was a bit chilly and I was shivering and the publicist felt bad for me so she ordered me that coat. I really liked it.
The publicist is so nice.

Why did you leave the Farm?

Friends of the male person and publicist wanted to have goats so the only ones who could leave at the time were me and Nora the goat so we went to live together on our new Farm. It was very nice.  Our new owners treated us very well.

Are you glad to be back?

I am very happy to be back. I like having a bigger herd to play in. I am very glad to see you again too nanny!

Why are you back?

Well, the people who owned the Farm where Nora and I lived wanted to travel so they asked the male person and the publicist if they wanted us to come back to the Farm. I am very happy they said yes.

I hope you all liked this interview with Sarah the goat. I will have an interview with Nora the goat next week so you can learn more about her.

Tomorrow:  Sunday Movies with The Happy Goats
