Dinner with Dad

The other day little Ricky wandered over to Luke the goat's pen.
He gave his daddy a "maaaa" hello!

Then they decided to have a bit of dinner together.
Isn't that sweet?

There was quite a bit to dine on in front of Luke's pen so it made for a very nice get-together for the two of them. They munched and maaaed and maaaaed and munched - it was good for them to get to know each other.

I think Luke the goat enjoyed himself.
In fact, I think they both look happy - don't they?

Luke gave Ricky a couple of maaaas of fatherly advice and then Ricky went back to his brother.
Hopefully he shared what he learned from his daddy.

Luke is a good daddy goat!

We wish all of the daddies out there a very Happy Father's Day tomorrow. Be sure to have a nice meal together whether it be grass or a burger.

Bruce, Clarence and the Piece of Tree

Bruce and Clarence are learning to eat all of the delicious things that goats like to eat.
And as you well know we are very spoiled goats here on the Happy Goats Farm and the publicist gives us many yummy things to munch.

We are STILL eating parts of The Big Tree-t.
Can you believe it?!
That was one big tree!
But we have had lots of good snacks from it.
And now so are the kids.

It took a bit for Bruce and Clarence to figure out that eating tree-t was a good thing.
Louise showed them how tasty it could be.

Louise is no dummy.

The best part of the tree-t, of course is nibbling on the needles.
I have mentioned how tiny Bruce and Clarence are and you can see it here when they stand in front of a piece of tree-t.

The needles are almost as big as the kids!
They are both checking it out but it is Clarence who proves to be Mr. Tough Buck!

He gives that piece of tree-t a butt!
Silly Clarence!
Tree-t is for EATING not for butting!

Now you have the idea!
Pretty tasty, isn't it?

I think he likes it, don't you?
He is one smart little kid!

Munch on, Clarence!
Munch on!

AbbyDay: I am Stealing Pricilla's Award Because I Think I Deserve It More Anyway

Pricilla was given an award by the very funny blogger Grand Pooba. Pricilla is very bad about her awards but I am going to take this one because I think I deserve it more than she does anyway. Grand Pooba has said that this is One Lovely Blog! Isn't that nice?

The rules say I  have to pass it on to seven other blogs that I like. Ha! I am Abby - I don't follow the rules! I say give it to all of the blogs that come to visit me. I say Pfffttt! to the rules. That's how I run.

It also wouldn't be AbbyDay without a picture of me! Here is one with me and Pricilla - see, I can share the limelight - out in our other field munching on weeds.

Have a great weekend everyone! Be sure to come back for the movies on Sunday.

Tomorrow: Luke and Mallory have a date

We Get to Graze?!

I thought I heard the publicist say that we were going to go out for a graze. This would be exciting news in the winter. We very rarely get to go out of our pen after the summer is over. Oooh, could it be true?

Mallory was very excited at the idea.

At last! Freedom!
Abby went to her favorite spot over by the publicist's new house and started to munch.

Little Matthew decided it might be wise to watch her and see what he could learn. Not to mention find what he could munch.

Jillian and Mallory were just chasing each other around.

Then Jillian just went running and running. She had a good time!

Mallory decided to then chase Abby! She even took a bit of a munch on Abby's head!

I was a good goat and just munched the little bits of green grass and weeds I could find. Mmmm, they taste so good!

Soon it will be nothing but snow on the ground. It was nice to get a little bit of a taste of Spring.

Hey! Guess what? If you head over to Just Another New Blog you can enter to win my rich soap! How cool is that? The giveaway ends tonight so hurry up and enter!

Tomorrow: Goatucation - The Cheesemaking Continues: Ricotta

Log Hopping...and Munching

The publicist thought that the kids might be a bit bored so she brought them a little present.
She brought them some log stumps to jump on and to munch.  You know we like to munch on the branches and bark of trees so having the stumps was nice.

Little Matthew was the first one up on a stump. He is a cutie pie!

He could be a goat on a stump model, don't you think?

Emily took her chances with a stump on its side.

Hmmm, maybe munching is better.

Mallory sure likes to munch on the stumps. I don't blame her.

Jillian watches over Jeffrey as he plays on the stump. I think she just wants to munch and she is waiting for him to leave.

I think it would be funny if I tried to get on one of the stumps. Heh heh. THAT is not going to happen. I am a smart goat!

Tomorrow: Emily OWNS her stump

Mmmmmm, Bark.

Abby loves to eat bark. I enjoy it too but it is a real favorite of Abby's. Since she uh, detained me I have learned that perhaps I need to spend a little more time talking about her. Perhaps she will be nicer to me....

The publicist let us our for a very nice graze the other day and we wandered over to the big wood pile. It is fun to explore the wood pile. There are logs to climb on and lots and lots of bark to nibble. Abby had a very good time since as I mentioned bark is one of her favorite grazing treats. I like the occasional lichen and I gobble Old Man's Beard (this is a moss) any time I can find it but I don't attack the bark like my kid.

I like to look for the new green weeds just peaking up out of the ground. Super yummy if you ask me. I am so glad that in spite of more snow signs of Spring are starting to appear. Soon I will have lots of green.
Abby can have her logs!

Tough Life

It's a tough life around here on the Happy Goats Farm. Other than some occasional spokesgoat duties I have to do nothing but graze, eat hay and stare at my view. I don't think I've really shown you my view and it's about time I did. Western Montana is a very pretty place for a goat to live. There are lots of mountains - it's not dry and sandy like the desert. But I am especially lucky to live on a river so I have a very pretty view. My river is called the Clark Fork. It is called that because a very long time ago some explorers named Lewis and Clark came through here looking to get all the way to the Pacific Ocean by water from Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania. It is the Clark's Fork of the Columbia River. But enough history for now...

I love to stare out over the water. But then again I just love to stare. We discussed this in my daydream post. I also do a lot of grazing over by the river bank. There are big Bull Pine and Ponderosa Pine trees growing there and we all know how much I love to munch on pine!
I also love to rub my hornless head on the branches. It feels sooooooooooo good!

Abby likes to eat the bark on the trees and we both enjoy a good lichen now and then. There are so many yummy goodies to be found after the snow starts to melt and we can graze again.

So you can see that it is a tough life for us here on the farm. Sad, huh?

Goats DO Love Pine Trees

As the spokesgoat for Happy Goats Soap I do have to do some work. Today my work is actually a pleasure. We offer a lovely soap called Goats Love to Eat Pine Trees Soap and my publicist thought it would be a good idea to prove this. A very generous person over at the Forest Service office gifted us with their personal Christmas tree - yum! Our male person chopped it up into four sections and we all got to share in the munching - yum! Then the Forest Service gave us its office Christmas tree. How exciting - even more yummy green pine tree to eat. Yum! This time of year with all of the tasty weeds covered by snow it is nice to get something green.

I have been enjoying my pine tree even though I have to share it with Abigail. I also use the trunk of the tree to scratch my head. I guess this spokesgoat thing really isn't that hard after all, is it?

So why not head over to Happy Goats Soap and check out ALL of the rich, beautiful soaps available. I wouldn't be a good spokesgoat if I didn't encourage you to do that, now would I? The soaps make a good, fluffy lather and leave your skin feeling moisturized, not dry. You can read here what our customers have had to say.
