Harry Meows, "Meet My New Friend Harley!" #HillsPet

Harry the Farm cat here.
I have made a new friend!
Would you like to know who?

Please meet Harley the cat!
Harley lives all the way across the country in Pennsylvania with her sister Haleigh.
But there is one big difference between Harley and Haleigh - Harley has gotten a little bit fluffy over the years.  But first let me tell you about how Harley came to live with her human, Tammie.

Tammie had lost her cat that came before - who had lived to be over 24! -  and felt she was ready for a new furbaby.  She ended up getting two! Two little kittens born two weeks apart - one of them being the beautiful Harley. But even though Harley loves to play fetch and "birdie" she has put on some extra fluff which has led Tammie to seek a cat weight loss solution. Harley is about 6 years old and before she started losing weight she weighed 18.3 pounds. Her Vet feels she needs to lose around 8 pounds.

Harley has a very loving human who was concerned about how the excess weight was impacting her health so with the help of the Vet Harley started on  Hill's Prescription Diet Metabolic Weight Solution. Harley is a girlcat who loves her people food and Tammie feels this contributed to her weight gain. Now Harley is off of human food and eating only her prescription food.

The results! I'll bet you want to know if the food is working, don't you!
Ig is! They are good! Very good indeed.

Harley has lost two pounds in two months and is on her way to losing more. She is already a happier kitty. Isn't that wonderful? Harley is going to continue with her weight loss plan and hopefully she will get to the weight her Vet recommends. All of us Farm cats will be cheering for her.  Will all of you be rooting for her too?

So raise a paw and sing out a big meow for Harley and Hill's Prescription Diet Metabolic Advanced! It helps cats and dogs lose weight and gets their metabolism working like that of a lean pet. It's available in wet food, dry food and treats so you never have to feel like you are depriving your pet while they lose weight.  Harley will attest to how tasty it is, as will the many, many cats and dogs who have used the Metabolic Advanced to live happier, healthier lives.

The Farm Cats Ask, "Are You a Fluffy Cat?" We Have Some Help and a Giveaway! #HillsPet

It's Farm Cat Friday and I am here to meow some very important information from Hill's Pet to you. But first I need to ask a question; are you a fluffy feline? A plump purr-er? A tubby tabby? If you are it is nothing to be embarrassed about - over HALF the population of dogs and cats in the US are overweight! So if you are you are definitely not alone. The number of cats in this group has increased by 90% (!?!) in the last five years alone. Your humans struggle to help you but they don't like to keep your food and treats from you. I understand that. For them dealing with cat weight loss is almost as hard as dealing with their own weight loss. Sad kitty faces are hard to for them to ignore.

The publicist understands this. She followed a weight loss plan and lost a lot of pounds. In her life before the Farm she had a kitty that needed to diet. Unfortunately for that cat there were very few options. Not like today -  that is what is so exciting. If you need to drop a few pounds you can run to your human and tell them to come learn all about Hills® Prescription Diet® Metabolic Weight Solution! This food is prescribed by your veterinarian; he or she is the one best able to determine if you need it. You can meow to your human that it is clinically proven nutrition that allows them to change what they feed you not how they feed you. Studies have shown that by using the Metabolic Weight Solution you could be a leaner kitty in 60 days! Isn't that wonderful?

Watch this very cute movie to learn more:

If you cannot see the movie you can watch it on YouTube HERE

That kitty has a very loving human! If you are reading this you most likely have a loving human too - like our publicist. She loves us all very much. She makes sure we have good food and lots of exercise. We also get lots of tasty treats and 'nip. You know I am the resident mousie hunter around here so I am always on the prowl. I run, I leap and I jump. I spend a lot of time on top of fence posts. I am a lean kitty at a perfect weight.

But then there is Sherpa....I have no meows to explain Sherpa, but despite his being Sherpa he still maintains his boyish figure. That might change as he gets older. He is not as active as I am. He does not hunt mousies. He spends most of his days in strange sleeping positions.  He might become one of those overweight cats and end up needing the complete Metabolic Weight Solution. Fortunately for him (and for anycat that needs some help) the program includes dry foods, canned foods and treats that are designed to work together to make it easy to keep on track. Heaven knows we kitties need our cat treats!

Farm Cat Friday - Sherpa the Farm Cat Meows to You About A Gourmet Diet and Has a Giveaway #HillsPet

This post is sponsored by Hill’s. I am being compensated for helping spread the word about Hill’s Science Diet for Cats, but The Maaaaa of Pricilla only shares information we feel is relevant to our readers. Hill's Pet Nutrition, Inc. is not responsible for the content of this article.

Greetings everyone. I am so glad to be here on Farm Cat Friday.
I have some very important and tasty stuff to meow to you today.
We cats need to eat. Did you know that we like to graze just like those silly goats?
That's why it is good to feed us some wet food for breakfast and leave kibbles out for us to nibble upon during the day between treats and dinner.

That way big strong mancats like me can keep energy levels high for doing important things like jumping up high and scaring humans. I like to be UP and I need my food to help me get there.

The publicist fed us some delicious cat food from Hill's Science Diet and as you can see we Farm cats really enjoyed it. I even shared with Stinky.

Harry shared with Stinky! This much sharing has never been seen around the Farm. The publicist almost fainted dead away. She was amazed. No matter - we all loved the food.

But back to the important facts about feeding us cats. Hill's lets you feed your cats a complete diet of wet food, kibble and treats with all of the same nutritious ingredients so that our kitty stomachs don't get upset at change. Let me just meow right now that I am very much in favor of treats!

I know that I am always there in the morning to remind the publicist that it is time for our breakfast. I'm sure she appreciates the four of us sitting on her and purring to remind her that we are HUNGRY. If she does not respond right away we then give her a little whap or two - that always works. She gets up and cracks open those delicious cans of cat food for us cats. She also fills up our kibble bowls.

Once in a blue moon she might be late with dinner. I NEED my dinner. I will meow and she will get me fed and then she will try and make things up to me by trying to pet me and be friendly but I do not fall for this. I meow to her, "talk to the paw!" You blew it woman!

I go to my box. But then she breaks out the cat treats and then I find I can forgive her. For a little while anyway. But then she goes and takes pictures like this....

....and she is back on my list again. Seriously! Leave a cat some dignity! But it does show how well fed I am and how my furs are so thick and shiny. Raowr! Thank you Hills!

So remember everything I meowed to you today and feed your cats well AND give them treats! To help you do that I have a giveaway for you thanks to the very nice people from Hill's Science Diet. 20 lucky readers will win Gift Baskets from Hills

You read that correctly! There will be TWENTY WINNERS! Would you like to see the gift basket?
I'm sure you would! Here it is:

I wish I could enter - but I'm a very spoiled Farm cat. I already eat very well.
The giveaway is open to the US but if any of you are from anywhere else you can direct it to a shelter or friend here.

To enter just go on the Rafflecopter. If you have any problems with it just let the publicist know and she will put your information in for you.  I thank you for reading my post today. I was very happy to meow at you today.

We All Need Food, Shelter and Love #HillsPet

Harry the Farm cat here - I am taking over today to meow to you about something very special and very important. As you well know disasters happen all over - just a year ago this weekend SuperStorm Sandy came ashore in New Jersey where the publicist used to live. Her brave brother,  a volunteer Fireman stayed on a skinny Island to help save people. There are lots of people helping people but what about all of the animals? Who helps the animals in the event of a natural disaster? I will meow to you who! But first I want to teach you some important tips to help keep your kitties, doggies and other pets safe.

There have been so many disasters recently; the tsunami in Japan, the wildfires in Colorado, the tornadoes throughout the Midwest. Can you imagine how scary it must be for all of the animals that have to be evacuated? Do you know how to prepare to for an emergency for your pet? Do you know what to have ready? Here is a suggested list from the very nice people at Hill's Science Diet:

Ensure your pet can be identified by either a microchip or collar ID tag, with updated contact information.

Prepare an emergency box of pet supplies that is readily accessible in the event of an
evacuation. Emergency kits should include: first aid supplies and guide book; a 3-day supply of pet food in a waterproof container and bottled water; a safety harness and leash; waste clean-up supplies; medications and medical records; a contact list of veterinarian and pet care organizations; information on your pet’s feeding routine and any behavioral issues; comfort toys; and a blanket.

If you need to evacuate, consider taking a pet carrier or crate if possible for transport and safe-keeping

Display a pet rescue decal on your front door or window to let first responders know there is a pet in the house. Include veterinarian’s contact information.

Identify a location to take your pet if you need to leave your immediate area – keep in mind that disaster shelters for people may not be able to shelter pets. Scout hotels/motels with pet friendly policies and ask relatives or friends if they could house you and/or your pet.

Carry a good picture of your pet with you in the event of separation during evacuation. Learn where your pet likes to hide in your house because pets may hide if they are scared. Finding them quickly will help you evacuate faster.

Did you know that Hill's Science Diet runs a truly remarkable program called Food, Shelter & Love™?
It has donated over $240 MILLION dollars of food to over 1,000 shelters nationwide. It has helped place 7 MILLION pets in new homes (and counting!) and it feeds over 100,000 homeless pets a DAY! That is pretty impressive if you ask this little Farm cat. I know I would not be happy if I had to be evacuated; where would I go mousie hunting? Where would I sleep?

I would certainly miss cuddling up with my brother Sherpa! But I know that the publicist would be sure to have what we needed if we had to go anywhere. She takes good care of us.

The Food, Shelter & Love™ program was launched on April 1st and every shelter in the program receives Science Diet food at a significant discount. And every new pet parent who goes home with a new family member receives a coupon and some delicious Science Diet kibbles for their dog or kitty. There is a New Pet Parent website to help with savings and advice for both dogs and cats. You can also find Hill's Science Diet on Facebook and YouTube. You can watch Food, Shelter Love videos on YouTube

I thank you for letting me take over today. I have a good life as a Farm cat. I'm lucky that the publicist's neighbor found me in the street and brought me to her. Otherwise I might have ended up in a shelter.  I think I like it much better on the Farm.

Did you know that October is Adopt a Pet Month? It is! There is going to be a fun #BlogPawsChat tomorrow night and #HillsPet is the sponsor! So if you are on Twitter be sure to stop in and visit. The publicist will be there tweeting away @BrokenTeepee. It's from 8PM to 10PM EDT!

Pricilla wanted me to meow that this is the 1700th post for her blog! Isn't that something?
