BREAKING NEWS!!!! A Doe is Born on the Farm

The publicist almost fell out of her shoes!
It's true.
I would not lie.

Thelma the goat had twins and ONE OF THEM IS A DOE!
You know by now that we have not seen many does born on this Farm.

So I give you my great grandkids.
They don't have names yet.
The publicist is mulling several possibilities.

This is the buckling.
He was born first.
He is as big as Harley the goat!

This is the doeling.
She is ALMOST as big as Harley the goat.

Thelma is a very nervous nanny.
She is licking, licking, licking.

That or she is telling the publicist to stuff it.
One or the other.

You decide.

Thelma the Goat Has Twins!

I have news!
Thelma the goat has had her kids.
It's true!

Two little......

BUCKS!
The male person is a touch frustrated.

He says Luke is in big trouble.

I don't understand...why would my studmuffin be in trouble?

Congratulations to AbbyGoat!

AbbyGoat had her kids!
It's true!
Even though Thelma the goat was due first Abby had to win.

She went into labor on Saturday and the publicist and male person were checking on her all day.  Of course she did not have her kids in the daylight. She waited until it was dark.

And late.

They went into the barn and saw Abby with the tiniest little goat kid they had ever seen.
The publicist said there had to be more coming.
They waited and waited and waited and waited. Over an hour!
It seemed like Abby was going to have one tiny little kid.

And then it started.
More contractions.
Out slid another kid.
Whew!

And then....out slid ANOTHER kid!

That's right!
AbbyGoat had triplets!
It's true!
I would not lie!

THREE LITTLE BUCKS.

They do not have names yet.
The publicist is ruminating on possibilities.

She let Abby bring them out into the sunshine today for a little walk about.

Aren't they cute?

The largest one (second born) looks rather like a Rorschach test. You can see how teeny, tiny his brother is next to him.

The last born looks a lot like the first one but is a bit bigger and has a little white curl on one side.

The first born is the biggest eater right now. He has also mastered the goat stare of death already!

You can really see how tiny he is when the male person is holding him.

He is a cutie pie!

They all enjoyed their time in the sun.

Testing out their legs by trying to run and jump.
It was very funny.

There will, of course be many more photos to come and more kids as soon as Thelma decides to kid!

I am a very proud Great Grandnanny!

Kid 1 and Kid 2 See the Light of Day

Exciting times here on the Farm.
The publicist new Louise the goat was going to have her kid soon - she thought it was only going to be one kid.
Louise sure did surprise her!

She thought it was going to be next week but Louise was showing signs that it might be sooner. Like growing the biggest udder the publicist has ever seen on a Nigerian dwarf goat! This should have been a clue that maybe there were going to be twins but sometimes the publicist is pretty stupid.

On Thursday night we went up to the barn as per usual around 6PM and Louise was not showing any signs of being in labor. The publicist and male person came up to check on her at 8:30PM and surprise, surprise there was a kid in the pen!

It was a cute little black and white kid.
Really, what a surprise. A black an white kid on the Farm.
The publicist went over to check on Louise and she stood up.
Under Louise was ANOTHER little goat.

It was probably a good thing they went in when they did or the second little kid might have been smothered. 
Louise, despite sitting on her second kid, is proving to be a very good nanny.

She has been barking at the male person, barking at the Farm cats and even barking at me!
She is licking those babies like crazy.
You know I would like to give them a little lick myself.
Maybe later.

They are very tiny.
You can see how small as the male person pets the first born. At least the publicist is guessing this is the first born as it was up and walking around and the brown one was under Louise and is a bit smaller.

They are both adorable as would be expected in greatgrandkids of mine.
Yes, I have admaaated it - I am a greatgrandnanny. But I am also a GREAT greatgrandnanny!

There will be more photos and movies as the kids get older.
Hopefully the publicist will get her act together and give them names soon too.
Kid 1 and Kid 2 are not good names.
Neither is trying to nurse on your brother.
They will learn.

BREAKING NEWS!

As I mentioned in this morning's post, there are two new kids on the Farm!
Louise had her kids last night but it was dark so the publicist could not take any photos or video until this morning.

So there you go, more fun for the Farm.
The names will be sorted out and there will be lots more photos and video in the coming days.

We were all surprised that Louise had twins. She was not that big!

Farm Cat Friday - Less Adoptable Pet Week

It's Less Adoptable Pet Week - the week were pets that deserve a home but maybe get overlooked because they are older or maybe disabled are featured on Petfinder.

Isn't she a pretty kitty? Here is a bit about her:

Tessa was rescued from a cat colony after surviving a long, cold winter living outside as a youngster. Her frostbitten ears are evidence of the tough winter she spent.

She was trapped by animal control and taken to that facility and kept in isolation for two weeks. She showed signs of wanting human contact, so ACAT personnel brought her in as a foster.

She is in Alaska and looking for a loving home. If you click on her picture you learn more about her and how to adopt her. There are many more great kitties and doggies at Petfinder so maybe look into your hearts and adopt a shelter animal.

Sherpa the Farm cat was a shelter kitty until the male person brought him home for the publicist.

Or maybe make a donation to your local shelter to make the animals' lives a bit easier.

The two new goatlings on the Farm maaaa thank you too.

It's Good the Twins Have Coats!

Yesterday was a very strange weather day.
At first the sun came out and then so did we.


The publicist had a doctor's appointment and she was getting ready to leave and she looked out the window and saw THE BOYS HAD ESCAPED!
The broke their fence.
Since she and the male person would not have time to fix it before they had to leave they put us all back in the barn.


We were not happy.
But it turned out for the best because IT SNOWED!
Then it RAINED.
Then the sun came out.
Then it SNOWED some more.
Then the sun came out again.
Then it rained some more.
Then it HAILED.


It was not a nice day.
Not at all.
Here is the hail pile.

I, for one goat, was very happy to be in the barn.
The new little girls were happy to have goatcoats when it was so chilly for April.

Aren't they cute, although somegoat was rolling around in the hay!


One of the little does actually managed to get herself OUT of her goatcoat her first night.
The publicist would love to know how she did that!

The publicist is sorry the photos are not very good. It was dark in the barn.
She is hoping the sun will be out tomorrow so they can get out for a little bit.
So is Abby....

Welcome to the Twins!

Yesterday was an exciting day on the Farm - Abby had her kids!
Two girls!
The male person almost fell over he was so surprised.


They arrived a little before noon. The first little doe is mostly white with black splotches

and the second kid is mostly black with white splotches.

The publicist hasn't quite decided what to call them yet but they are very cute, aren't they?

She suggested Scarlet and Melanie but the male person just looked at her.
Abby is a very good nanny and is taking excellent care of the new kids on the Farm.
They are enjoying her rich milk.

They are wearing their goat goats from Texan at night because it is still a little chilly but they won't need them during the day.


It is nice to have kids on the Farm again. They are so much fun. 

I know you will all look forward to getting to know them (Lucy and Ethel?)
If it is nice tomorrow they will get to go out for a little bit but they will be staying in the barn for the next few days.

I can't wait to give them a sniff and a lick myself (Mary and Elizabeth?)
So be sure to keep checking back the little goats will be taking over for a bit and names will soon be announced.(Thelma and Louise?)

The Kids First Day Out

Goatucation is postponed today because I am sure that you all just want to see more photos of Emily and Jeffrey. Goatucation will return next Monday.

Jillian finally brought the two babies out of the goat house for a walk in the sun. Of course their little legs are still a bit wobbly but they had fun.

I had to go over and check them out, of course. I love the smell of new kid. And of course I still miss my Kevin.

 Jillian is a very watchfull nanny. She doesn't let them wander very far from her yet. That will come in time. I tried to lick the babies but Jillian didn't like that too much.

Doesn't little Emily look like an Oreo cookie?

 

 It is definitely good to have kids on the Farm again. Everyone is happier and there are lots more smiles.  And I am sure you want to know who won the guessing contest!  There were four people who guessed correctly so I put their names in the grain bucket and picked one out. It was hard for me not to eat the paper, but I was good! The winner is:

Anne!!!!!!! Yay!!!!!

But we also have a special prize for AB Home Interiors for guessing that there would be two black and white goats! For indeed there were!

The publicist will be getting in touch with both winners so she can mail you your samples of my rich soap.  Thanks to everyone for playing.

Mystery Solved!

Yes indeed. The mystery of what exactly Jillian was carrying has been revealed:

 Aren't they just the cutest little kids? Well, I of course  think my Kevin is the cutest kid but these two are adorable.

They were born on September 11th at about 8PM MDT which the publicist and male person really appreciated. That way they weren't up too late waiting for kids.

This doe came first; her name is Emily.

Here is a close up of her little face all cleaned up. She is almost all black except for a white splotch on one side that leads to a ring of white all around her belly.

 

This buck came second; his name is Jeffrey.

 He looks remarkably like Abby's daughter Nora. Michael was Nora's father too.

(This is Nora - you can see Jeffrey more clearly in the photo at the top of the post. The publicist is holding him. He has the same white splotch on his head.)


 Jillian is proving to be a very good nanny. Don't they make a happy family?

Of course there will be lots of pictures in the coming days. And with Mallory due in the next couple of weeks we will be drowning in kids.
