Post Redux - How Sherpa Came to Be on the Farm

The publicist is not feeling well so I am re-running a post today. It's the tale of how Sherpa came to be on the Farm. I hope you enjoy this tale. We have a new Farm cat!

The publicist is having some difficulties in coming up with a name for this little cutie. He was a complete surprise from the male person. You can read all about it here. It is a bit of a sad story because we are also saying goodbye to Farm Cat Fred.

The publicist is very sad about Fred. He was her favorite cat.

But the male person is a great guy and now we have a new Farm Cat or maybe I should say Farm Kitten. Isn't he cute?

I asked him a few questions so you could learn all about him.

So, where did you come from?

I was living in the shelter in Missoula. I am very happy to be in a nice house now where people play with me and I have plenty to eat and there are other cats to play with me. The other cats aren't friendly yet but I think they will be.

How did you spend your first night on the Farm?

Well, I did some exploring in my new home. I learned where the litter box is - this is very important! I learned where the food bowls are. Also very important! And I played with the publicist's plant.

What do you expect to do on the Farm?

I think I will play and eat and sleep.

And at the point the little kitten did fall asleep.

I guess it has been an exciting couple of days for the little guy.  The publicist would like any suggestions for names. She might not use them but she is always open to suggestion.

As you all know he came to be Sherpa the Farm cat for his fondness for climbing - the walls, the publicist, the male person, just about anything. He is a very big part of the Farm.

Farm Cat Friday - Intermew with the New Farm Cat

It's Farm Cat Friday and I am here to maaaa to you all about the new kitty on the Farm. So without further ado here is my intermew with him:

So everyone is just dying to know - just what IS your name?

First I want to meow how happy I am to be a new Farm cat. Second I want to meow that I had NOTHING to do with my name. The male person around this place picked it out. I don't think I am happy with it but it is better than being called "Kitty" or "VisitorCat." At least with a name I feel like I belong.

My name is Stubby.

As if it was MY fault something happened to my tail
As if it was MY fault I was hurt.

I think I might take this out on that male person somehow.

So erm, Stubby, what's your story?

I'm keeping some of my secrets. It's a cat's way but I can tell you that I've been roaming around the neighborhood for a while. I would visit here and visit there but I never really had a place to call home. Then one night it was really, really cold and I was singing my song outside the door of the yurt and the publicist let me in. She saw how cold I was. She saw that I had ice balls stuck to my paws. She decided enough was enough and that I was going to be a Farm cat.

They packed me off to the vet and I came home a little lighter than I left if you know what I mean. I don't know if I'm happy about that or not but the publicist says I'll be healthier. Healthy is good - I don't want to be sick! The vet told her I weighed 16 pounds (it's all muscle!), I was somewhere between two and three (I will not confirm or deny this) and that I was part Maine Coon Cat. I am not discussing my parents either.

I will meow that I miss the outside. I want to roam. It's what a big, strong cat does. But living here does have it's perks.

What kind of Perks?

NIP!
You can see my nip pile in the photo where I'm staring out the window. I'm just finishing it up here.

There is also regular food. I did not have that when I was roaming.
Food is good.
I get choices here too - and I don't have to catch it. It just shows up on a plate!
Gotta love that.

Any problems?

I get along with most of the other Farm cats. This Sherpa dude has issues with me. I don't know why. I'm pretty laid back. He hisses and yowls at me for no good reason. I haven't attacked him or anything. I mean I've sniffed him and stuff but nothing more than that.

He's always watching me.
WHAT is that about?
I'm not going to take anything of his.
I think he's being silly but I figure he'll get used to me.

I'm mellow.
Especially after my nip.

So what are your plans?

I'm going to eat and nap and stare out the window. The publicist says I can go back outside in a few days - after I have "recovered" from my operation whatever that means. I feel just fine! I think she's been silly.

For now I'll find a place to rest.

Stay out of Sherpa's way.
And enjoy the good life of being a Farm cat.

There's always somewhere new to explore!
I think I'm going to love it here.

I hope you all enjoyed this intermew with Stubby the Farm cat. I'm sure you'll be seeing him around in future weeks.  Tomorrow you'll see more photos of my new great grandkid!

Be sure to go and visit Nanny Goats in Panties today. Emily makes a guest appearance. It is a very favorite blog of the publicist.

Intermew with Fred the Cat

Today I continue the series of interviews I have done with the other residents of the Happy Goats Farm. Our subject of the moment has been a bit illusive and hard to pin down for this talk.
But now I give you my Intermew (hee hee) with Fred the Cat:

Fred, how did you come to live on the Happy Goats Farm?
Well, I have actually lived with the publicist and male person for quite a bit of time before they started the Farm. In fact I have lived with them the longest time of anyone here! They found me in a campground in Fredricksburg, Virginia. This is when they were traveling all around the country in their trailer visiting all the states. My former owners (HISS, HIIIIISSSSSS) left me at the campground! They just pulled away in the camper without me. If it hadn't been for the publicist I wouldn't have had a home. In case it was a mistake by my former owners (HISSSSSSSS) she even left her phone number with the campground so they could call and get me back but they never called. I guess the didn't want me any more.

I am very sorry Fred, that is a sad story. Are you happy here?
You bet! This is the best place ever. I did have to get used to the new name and all. I don't even remember what my last name was. But I have so much fun here on the farm. The only thing I have to be careful of is the bald eagle. He comes and visits the Farm and one time he tried to fly away with me. This was not very nice of him.

What do you do around the Farm?
Well, I am the chief pocket gopher catcher for the male person. He does not like the gophers in his garden. They can tunnel as deep as six feet down in the ground so this does make it tough for me to catch them but I do my best. I have also brought home some other things as presents for the publicist; she doesn't always like my presents though. I do not understand this.

How do you feel about us goats?
To tell you the truth, Pricilla, you have butted me but good several times. So I give you all a pretty wide berth. I don't like flying through the air. Other than that I have to say that I do like playing in your goat house when you are in the barn. Ha! Oh, and I drink your goat water out of your buckets. That is my revenge for all the butting.

I think I will end this intermew now. I am not completely sure that goats and cats should be in the same room for too long a stretch of time. Being the spokesgoat for Happy Goat Soap I should tell you that Fred is the model for our Cat Got Your Goat Soap which is available in the shop.

I hope you have all enjoyed learning more about Fred the Cat.
